Does putting ps4 on rest mode download faster

I have just recently swapped to a new drive and now I get my full down on my ps4. One download speed fix, as reported by many PS4 users, is to place the console in Rest Mode. When set up correctly, the PS4 will continue to download files while it's in the low-power mode.

So what I do now is setup all downloads and put the ps4 into stably mode. It's not ideal but it works for now.

Clearly there are discrepancies between ps4 speed estimate and actual download speeds. Don't be a Douche your whole life bud.

I set the firewall to dmzplus and then reset the ps4 and it finished in 30 minutes. To do this, navigate to your console's Network settings and set up your internet connection - choose manual when asked about DNS. Put your PS4 into Rest Mode, leave it, come back later, and hopefully the download will have progressed faster than with the PS4 turned on.

Rest Mode is one of the handiest features of the PlayStation 4. Instead of powering down completely, your console just goes into a low-power sleep mode like your laptop does when it hibernates.

Earlier this week, Sony released a new patch for the PlayStation 4, and if you've downloaded it, here's my advice: be very, very careful. See, the PS4's v2. In addition to a host of random problems reported by a sprinkling of PS4 owners across the web—volume fluctuations, inconsistent connectivity, etc. Last night, I put my PS4 in Rest Mode, and when I woke up this morning, the console wouldn't turn on—I had to manually reset it, potentially risking damaging the system and its files.

Same thing seems to be happening to a lot of other people, too. A few of us here at Kotaku have had firsthand experience with this Rest Mode problem, and scans through Twitter and Reddit reveal that it's a widespread issue. Some Redditors have suggested potential ways to fix it, but none of them seem to be foolproof. When I reached out to Sony yesterday, they said they're looking into these issues, but there's no word on an ETA for a fix. For now, I recommend just turning your PS4 off entirely when you're done with it.

Better to be safe than sorry and bricked.
