Write a review optional. Loved this book. Had me reading late into the night. I can't wait to start City of Glass. Overall, great! My only problem is that the climax was somewhat anticlimactic and only really made sense after the fact. The first book was better, but I'm still hooked! This was a good second book.
Though I have to say the only reason I continued on with the series is cause I peeked ahead to see if the author was going to "Fix" the issue I had with the last book. I found the main fighting scene to be just on the border of being too long and have a feeling that when the HUGE battle comes I suspect there will be one I just hope it doesn't go on and on The characters were still fun to read and kept me at a quick pace. In the second of the Mortal Instrument series, Clary continues to attempt to learn about her family's Shadowhunter history and to discern what her particular skills are.
After a were child is murdered and drained of blood, she discovers that her estranged father is attempting to perform a magical ritual which would allow him to lead an army of demons.
Since Clary appears to be becoming more adult in this novel, it is less adolescent angst and more enjoyable than the last one. Book 2 was moderately better than the first book. The storyline, characters, and plot were decently developed. Battles raged, friendship trueness was revealed. The writing style is getting better and better, the story never stops being intruiging, and the characters are wonderfully fleshed out, I love all of them, especially the minor ones, a notable example being Magnus, who is just phenomenal.
Simon is the only one I found annoying, but by the end of the book I warmed up to him as well. Also, this might be the only love triangle I have ever liked, it is so well-done, and I didn't find it annoying or unnecessary at all. I think that the multiple perspectives work really well in these books, so I really don't have anything to complain about, except for the cliffhanger at the end, but I guess that can be forgiven.
If you haven't read this series yet, then I don't know what to tell you. It really is worth it. My 2nd baby from my The Mortal Instruments book series. I am in love once again! In my opinion, this was better than the first one in so many ways. We get to see Clary's relationship with Simon which I'm glad he had a moment of happiness before moving on , Clary and Jace dealing with their recent news and lots of fights that I so love.
And let me tell you, that epilogue killed me in so many ways. I truly believe that was the best way to finish the book and I'm glad it ended that way. On to the 3rd book now! It was somewhat predictable. I'm sure everyone knew Simon would end up a vampire, but I didn't see the daywalker thing coming at all! And poor Alec. I wanna shake him and hug him. Growing up as he did, being gay must be terrifying for him. But you have this amazing, powerful, attractive Warlock that wants you and you basically spurn him in public.
He'd better figure his shit out or Magnus might leave him in the dust. Luke and Jocelyn I believe she would reciprocate And now the mystery woman who can wake her mother approaches Clary We'll see how it plays out in the next book. It's not jump up and down great, but I like it enough to keep going with the series.
Not quite as gripping as the first one. Jace, Clary and Simon frustrate me slightly but Valentine remains the consummate villain. Still enjoyable though. This book had plenty of suspense.
I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I was uncomfortable with Clary as she and Jace tried to fix their weird relationship. I really liked Clary and Simon, and was saddened by the fact that Clary was using him to distract herself from Jace. Jace is annoying. She follows them and also she quickly locates herself seeing a kid being killed by 3 weird teens.
She quickly locates that the boy was a demon, and the other three people, Jace, Alec as well as Isabelle are Shadowhunters. Clary rejects to tell Simon what took place even if he recognizes that something is wrong. The following day, Clary enters a battle with her mommy and uncle, Jocelyn and also Luke when she discovers that she will certainly need to spend the rest of the summertime at a ranch.
She follows him outside where she had a quick talk with him before receiving an unusual telephone call from her mommy informing her not to come home. The line goes dead and also Clary runs residence only to find the door open, the house destroyed and also her mother nowhere to be discovered. She finds that a weird animal remains in the home and she needs to combat with it as the animal tries to kill her. Clary manages to eliminate the devil with a Sensing unit, a gadget she took by chance from Jace, but she is struck in the rear of the head and loses conscious.
When she awakens she is outdoors and also Jace tells her that he needs to take her to The Institute due to the fact that she got injured by the demon and would pass away or else.
Clary awakens 3 days later in the Institute. She calls Luke yet he does not want to see her as well as also tells her to steer clear of from him. Jace assumes that Clary may be a Shadowhunter which was why she could see them. Clary informs Hodge that the satanic force talked about a male called Valentine, a man who was supposed to be dead.
Hodge chooses that they finest course of action is to inform the Silent Brothers as well as The Clave concerning the situation. Harald Zwart. More like this. Watch options. Storyline Edit. Chix Chat on Film review: Supernatural adventure never mundane. The Mortal Instruments City of Bones was adapted from a novel like many of the contemporary fantasy films of late. Fortunately, this one was a good choice to bring to the big screen because it gives the audience a well-developed story with likable lead characters.
Clary Fray Lily Collins is a typical teenager at first glance, and although she is special the basis of her uniqueness is unbeknownst to her. As seen in the trailer, she witnesses what seems to be a murder in the midst of a crowded club however no one except her has seen it happen.
This incident sets up the adventure which begins with Clary meeting Jace Jamie Campbell Bower a Shadowfighter, which is basically someone who battles demons.
