You just have to wait. If you don't have it from steam workshop, you'll have to redownload the mod when the author updates it i think. Not sure if you even can get mods outside steam worshop. Resurrecting this since I would like an answer as a modder how to do it, and literally nowhere I've found has had the correct answer, but obviously, it's possible because other modders do it I've asked some, but none of them have responded yet after a couple of weeks.

Changing the mod files doesn't automatically do it for me, and I read somewhere that supposedly re-uploading the mod under the same name is supposed to do it that doesn't work , I also tried re-uploading it to steam with the same mod number, that also didn't work, as it automatically assigned it a new number.
