That didn't work for me. I kept trying and finalliy got to the shrine. Problem is, I don't know what did it because I tried so many things. I changed the order of the burning trees, I restarted from a saved game, went counter-clockwise and I left out burning the last tree. Whatever it is, it is a glitch that catches a lot of people and should be fixed.

It is indeed bugged, you get thrown around randomly inside the airplane, and the tail part doesn't react to you double-jumping on it.
