EMBED for wordpress. Want more? Advanced embedding details, examples, and help! The classic board game Stratego gets the 3D treatment in this release from Hasbro Interactive.

For those unfamiliar with the game, the object is to discover the opponent's flag before he or she discovers yours. Play begins with each player positioning 40 ranked units on a board composed of squares. Players then take turns moving a piece one space forward, backward or sideways as they try to reveal enemy units hidden from view.

In order to uncover the opponent's unit, a player can attack a piece by moving it within the same square occupied by the enemy. Whoever has the higher ranked piece wins the battle and removes the defeated unit from the board. Besides ranked units, there are also immovable bombs that can only be disarmed by Miners. Hasbro released the second computer version of the board game in late , but it has no relationship to this Accolade release.

For those who are not familiar with the board game, here is the basic premise: Stratego is perhaps best described as the "realistic, modern military" version of Chess. Each player is allotted an "army" of 40 playing pieces at the beginning of the game, including a Marshal, Captains, Sergeants, Scouts, Bombs, and a Flag.

Each piece, similar to Chess, follows its own movement rules. Unlike Chess, success of "attack" is determined by the pieces' ranks, not whether that attack is valid.

So a Marshal can remove a General, a General can remove a Colonel, and so on. When equal ranks are struck, both pieces are removed from the board. Timing is crucial in the game, and "special" pieces such as the Miners and Spy can tip the scale very quickly. With good graphics with several board backgrounds to choose from , and a user-friendly interface, this PC version does justice to the original board game, although too bad the AI is too easy to beat.

You need the wheel to play! You say enter anything, I have tried nothing, and I have tried most everything, but after two tries the game ends after saying you need the wheel. Dor 1 point DOS version. Played this originally on the Amiga, then the DOS version came out in a year before the Amiga one.

Well, what was I missing. The dos version is vastly better with highres x graphics, and this for a game. Any other piece that attacks the bomb will be destroyed! Once they attack, they will morph into their appropriate rank and an animated battle will ensue. In addition to the classic game as described above, players can choose from the following game modes: Alliance Campaign, Ultimate Campaign, Ultimate Lightning and Alliance Lightning.
