Under all the gore and the extreme ax-swinging violence, Nightmare Creatures II is really nothing more than a very linear Final Fight -style game with very little substance.

While the production values behind the visuals are clearly quite high, there's little substance behind the gameplay. You run from room to room chopping at ugly-ass monsters who gush pints of blood all over the place--and that's about it. There's an occasional button to push or lever to pull and every now and then there's a power-up to pick up, but fundamentally it's just a boring and frustrating game.

The first game wasn't anything special. This one's no better. Nightmare Creatures II comes out of the gates strong but, in the end, falls short of real lasting appeal. On one hand it's aesthetically on the mark. The sound effects are well-done if not cheesy in parts especially the persistent groaning.

The dark and dank environments convey the nightmare world very well and the gameplay mechanics, while simple, are tolerable. The biggest problem with the controls concerns jumping, which is so awkward as to make the simplest jump over water potentially fatal to your character. The graphics are very good, almost impressive. From Ignatius and Nadia to the evil creatures, from foggy London streets to underground caves, from explosions to congelations, everything is a salve to the eye.

The sounds are creepy, and I mean that in a good way. Each creature you encounter sounds as mean as it looks, and snarls, barks, moans, growls, and roars at you as it tries desperately to put you out of your misery.

If the game is displayed wrong, you need to download the Windows registry fix available at the top in the "extras" section, and run it. Unfortunately this needs administrator privileges, as this game was made for Windows Please give whatever you can to help us.

If your first cdr device is physical, but you don't want to burn the cd, but you have the image, mount it in the first virtual device, and after you will have to disable the physical cdr for the time of playing this game.

I do like that, since I never use physical cdr in my laptop. Right click on the proper one, and select the second top option win10 , which should be "turn off" or somth like that. I you aren't sure which one is the physical one, then disable all the virtual cdr devices in daemon tools gui. If you disable them, you should see only the physical one in device manager. I installed in "work pc" It was fine. But in home, nothing. Axe 1 point. Played this game for countless hours with friends. Try it in the dark. Its fun to play with all the different weapon upgrades. Good challenging game, especially towards the end. Look everywhere to get all the upgrades or you will be sorry and die a messy death lots. Great puzzles for this era. The monsters will make you laugh when they kill your friends. Could be scary a little if played alone on a dark and stormy night.
