Hi Brian I could really use the remote control app gimbal or second monitor for the camera if only we could choose different video modes. We cannot choose the recording mode xavcs hd or 4K once we are inside the app but most of all, we cannot choose the gamma and colour range.

Is it planned to be able to choose the gamma curve slog3, cine4, slog2 at least? If there were also the colour mode sgamut3 cine that would be amazing. I copped an iPad Mini 4 for this purpose. The process to update the app on the camera was very clunky, apparently due to some sort of conflict with firefox. Having to give the app its own set of instructions regarding file type, etc. One particular thing that is really a bummer vs.

I know they have Bracket Pro and charge for it, so maybe that will be a problem including something like that but hopefully better into the remote app, which is free. Sometimes it works, sometimes not — even with the exact same settings and lenses attached. Batteries are not dying, the app just stops shooting.

I am unable to add camera apps onto my Alpha a7 on the camera itself. My connection is fine but it keeps kicking me out. The app is not saving the settings consistantly, if I set a lens up it does not show the peripheral shading settings selected, it does show and retain the Chromatic settings, it does not show and retain the distortion settings.

I find it incredibly frustrating that you cannot use the actual viewfinder when using the smart remote. Coming from Canon and Camranger I could give my client my iPad and let them wirelessly review images in real time.

Why does the app disable the camera viewfinder? Sorry if this is ranty, but it makes no sense why they would disable the camera viewfinder to use the app… Is there anyone at all complaining about this so I can expect them to address it? Update: With the A9 you can use the viewfinder with playmemories. The fundamental problem with playmemories is that you have to boot the camera into a special mode with cut down features to operate it. The iPad becomes the brain and the camera the slave. This is not the case with Camranger.

Camranger is just a wireless controller for the camera and you have full control of all the internal camera features when using it. I would do anything short of moving back to Canon to use Camranger again. Playmemories Home Windows 10 PC crashes constantly.

Going into Settings causes it. Opening Playmemories Online in the app causes it. It would be nice if it just worked. I turn the brightness up on my iPad all the time to use other apps. I need to be able to review the images on the camera while I shoot to double check exposure and critical focus. Just purchased Smooth Reflection app yesterday. I used it to shoot with my A and it worked just fine.

I was using my Sigma 50mm lens so figured maybe it was an incompatible lens. We must appeal to Sony to not abandoned Play Memories and the in-camera apps. I am a huge fan of the smooth reflection app as are many photographers, especially those on the FredMiranda.

Someone passed along this posting as a possible place to let Sony know that they should not kill apps like smooth reflection in new cameras like the A7rIII and A9.

I simply fire up the app and choose the number of images I want to stack for the desired affect. We need to save this app. Yes, I am also a big fan of the smooth reflections app. Wonderful to provide one raw file for shots.

A with Mac os Play memories is ultra frustrating. PM works, slowly, with a direct connection but absolutely not via wifi. Bought a Cybershot a few years ago. Great camera, but despite being touted as having WiFi capabilities for picture transfer, I have never been able to get it to connect. I assume since you said Kindle you mean the Android version.

You might get want to try again. I buy software from Sony, install it, and sometime later, time lapse disappeared. Now I have to fork over money to buy the software again. Wish I had a setup up like that, I could make a fortune! You can install camera apps on up to 10 cameras. If it disappears on one of them you can reinstall it.

Sony QX camera connecting to Android 7. The speed between shots is abysmal. Its surprising to buy a camera with the advanced technology of the RC 10 MIV only to discover that some of its functions are not available because of the severe limitations of the Play Memories software. This weakness should be mentioned in all reviews. The remote basics are fine — I can zoom in and out and take photos. My camera was not in auto mode. As another user mentioned, it feels like booting into another OS.

After many, many tries with different browsers on my Mac, I could finally install the pmcadownloader. I had to allow for third-party software in the safety settings — had I only not done this! Then this week I finally got to shoot a soccer game with both cameras. So when I began to edit the videos everything had shot that day were in the same folder…. But even after deleting them ALL…it kept showing the same warning and every video clip I did edit started to jump all over the place like a time lapse and every time you replayed it the skips were different. Do it manually. I have A7s2. Tried it 3 times. Any ideas on how to deal with this? You need to be more specific. Then when I opened the play memories app it asked me to turn the camera on and I did but it did nothing.. My Play memories software always crashes. I get the message Browser has stopped working. A few days ago I am unable to shoot with the Playmemories app. I updated my phone app but no use. My play memories home on my Lenovo yoga laptop running windows 10 freezes shortly after I load it. PlayMemories Mobile is the only app for iPad. Click Open to Open if you forgot where you put it. I'd rather buy a different piece of equipment from another manufacturer that actually gets it then waste time with workarounds. After i found a way to batch change my existing folders, I just change each one manually as they are created. You right click the folder, select rename, and type the correct info. Amazing that SONY still hasn't fixed this.

Clearly Sony are not interested. Simple answer Sony definately making a point by ignoring all the complaints about such a simple software change for sooooo long. The application is too smart for it's own good and follows the system-wide short-date format, which now I've updated to yyyy-mm-dd the same way my Canon has always organized photos since that's the only sensible way to have things in order.

I realize this is not a pretty setting within the Sony application, but at least then it will follow whatever format you prefer, like yyyy-MM-dd, though sadly no way to use underscores I guess. Software support is just as important as any hardware firmware. Update on this And suggested I use 'bulkrenameutility' to change the name. So they've rejected the concept of doing what many of their users want and have been asking for. This suggests four things to me: - they didn't really understand the problem.

For over half a year they suggested 'fixes' that didn't address the actual problem. Replacing them with new ones costs more but that looks like it may be their priority. This is surprising and quite poor. And the fact that they know a product which can do it I used to work in software development in large organisations - not a developer but influenced the development programs - and this change according to my experience decades long, sadly is not major and unlikely to be horrendously difficult.

So it looks to me like it's more a question of lacking the will to do it rather than the ability. Shame on you Sony - there are many user review sites out there, and the opinion of your dissatisfied customers does go into them.

That is not a solution. Please read some of the earlier posts in this thread before contributng. When I realized there was a problem, I already had a lot of files mislabeled by the software. After I got through relabeling them, I rename every file as soon as it is created when I upload. If Sony is aware of the problem but can't or won't fix it, they should include a warning to new users so they will know to manually rename the files each time they upload so as to avoid having to figure out how to rename them all later.

It is not possible to set the date format specific for the import folders inside PlayMemories Home. However you can change the global settings in Windows control panel language and regional settings , so that the imported folders will have YYYY. DD format, and will show up chronologically in the PlayMemories folder view.

See attached screen shots. And as I said in one of mine "It's a crude workaround that causes more problems than it fixes". I can work around it by renaming the folders, but it's extra work that I have to do each time I import something. I bought my camcorder for Christmas and discovered this "feature" just yesterday. Looking at the minimal software support for the official Sony photo application I'm going for other manufacturers. Sad such a obvious change to the official software is totally ignored! I have this problem as well and I contacted Microsoft first. The chat rep advised I should ask my camera mftr and download the lates software driver.

I gave this recommendation some consideration but I looked over to the Sony Community first. This is not an isolated problem addressed by the Sony Software. So here I am doing a search and I find this question which matches mine. This is not really a Sony problem but somehow, it should be a problem addressed by Microsoft. Or, will someone at Sony please advise how to lock down my pic data so it doesn't get changed in the transfer. This problem drives me nuts because I store my pics in folders by the Date Created.

I never had this problem when I use to transfer my Kodak pics to my computer. Date Created always remained the same. You can sort the pictures to be saved with the date they were taken by changing the Import settings on PlayMemories Home.

To change this, pleas open the program and click the Tools tab. Open the Settings tab and click on Import. Change the setting to "Sort imported media files into folders by date taken". Restart the software before importing the files to your computer. As for the previous;y imported files with the folder named after the date they were imported, you can change this by opening your pictures folder and renaming them.

The date when the pictures are taken can be found on the properties of the files. The change will reflect on the software as well. If my post answers your question, please mark it as "Accept as Solution".

Hi Mitch, it is nice to see you have solved the problem which is off topic for this string. It would also be nice to see the topic problem solved, that is, that the software will automatically name the folders in the format yyyy-mm-dd so they will be in order in the folder tree.
