Peter is dismayed when Barnabas reveals he was using him and his friends to keep the dried fruit for themselves. He looked for Peter in town after reading the book, he never knew Peter's father. They go to Bea while she is having a meeting with Nigel and others at the publishing company.

Bea realises Nigel's intentions and pulls her stories from his company. Peter, Thomas, and Bea get into many outlandish adventures to help their friends, including a high-speed boat chase and skydiving with a parachute into a moving car.

Peter and the other rabbits then return to Barnabas's hideout where they turn the tables by tying Barnabas and his crew to ropes so that they get pulled away when the nearby truck, owned by the Tailor of Gloucester. They are all then captured by the pet pound people. The rabbits then return all the dried fruit to their owners before returning home with Thomas and Bea. Corden is alright if a little annoying which is joked about as the long-eared hero, Byrne and Gleeson are fine as the human companions, Oyelowo is annoying, and the supporting cast of voice talents as the recognisable supporting characters are reasonable.

Like the first film it is more style over substance, one or two in-jokes may have made me titter, and the special effects are nothing to complain about, but the plot with a heist, chases and other over-the-top events is ridiculous, a silly only just alright family part-animated adventure. All the creative team had to do was recreate what worked in the original, add a bit of variation and surely it'd be job done. Unfortunately they try to be too clever. Charmless, far too self-aware, this was an absolute dud. All the nice heart and slapstick largely has gone, being replaced PC messages and nonsense.
