By: Charles Duhigg. Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn.

In our daily lives, too many of us favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard. We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn. By: Adam Grant. We are stuck, stymied, frustrated. But it needn't be this way. There is a formula for success that's been followed by the icons of history - from John D.

Rockefeller to Amelia Earhart to Ulysses S. Grant to Steve Jobs - a formula that let them turn obstacles into opportunities. Faced with impossible situations, they found the astounding triumphs we all seek. By: Ryan Holiday. In business, the right behaviors matter. But getting it right is tricky. Even when we acknowledge the need to change what we do and how we do it, life has a habit of getting in the way, upsetting even the best-laid plans. And just how do we manage those situations that can provoke even the most rational among us into behaving in ways we would rather forget?

By: Marshall Goldsmith , and others. The updated edition of the best-selling book that has changed millions of lives with its insights into the growth mindset. After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, PhD, discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset.

In this brilliant book, she shows how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities.

People with a fixed mindset - those who believe that abilities are fixed - are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset - those who believe that abilities can be developed. Mindset reveals how great parents, teachers, managers, and athletes can put this idea to use to foster outstanding accomplishment. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

She also expands the mindset concept beyond the individual, applying it to the cultures of groups and organizations. With the right mindset, you can motivate those you lead, teach, and love - to transform their lives and your own. A great book is one whose advice you follow. This is a book that can change your life, as its ideas have changed mine.

The things most worth doing require the most from us—it takes hard work to accomplish important tasks, achieve major goals, and realize your dreams. Commitment, sweat, exhaustion, frustration, and a willingness to fail are all necessary parts of taking on challenges. In such moments, look to these quotes about hard work to keep you going. I'm not trying to be rude, just want to paint a clear picture here, it sounds like it's being read by a member of the lollipop guild on the Wizard of oz.

This book was extremely enlightening and has really helped solidify some issues for me, however the majority of the book was dedicated to explaining the concept of the two mindsets rather than talking about how to cultivate the growth mindset. The language used to describe the "fixed" mind set was often judgmental, and as someone who struggles with that, it was a little off putting. However, if you can put the negativity of the language aside, there is helpful information.

I wish there was more information and explanation of how to change mindset once you've identified that you have the "bad" fixed mindset. Unfair, I know.

I really wanted to listen to this book. Not working. Buying hardcover. Audible; please fix this!!!! Please have Michael Neill narrate this!!!! Someone should be doing quality control here! Yes the reader was robotic for the first 25 percent of the book, but then she settled in and became human.

There are so many ideas that I will apply immediately to my life personally and professionally. This was well worth the purchase, now I am familiar with the concept and can go back to the hard copy to flag some ideas. It's read by a robot I wouldnt recommend it, get the kindle or paperback instead. Wanted to love this, content is great but the robot voice has proven too much to handle. The performance completely ruins the content. As others have suggested, the paperback or kindle version is the way to go, save yourself and completely skip the audiobook audible version.

The story teller is a little boring and I often fell a sleep. There are more stories then actual tips and tricks on how to get a growth mindset. There is to much talk about sports. Was so excited to listen to this. Her voice sounds like a robot. Could not make it through! I have been fascinated by neuroplasticity and the ability of the brain to reorganize and change itself, but Carol Dweck's book is an overly optimistic title which makes promises that are only backed up by wishful thinking, not science.

She claims you can actually change your intelligence or g factor for those psychologists out there among other things like personality traits she implies if not outright claims you can change the Big Five.

While her initial paper was groundbreaking and her subsequent work followed up on it, none of it has been replicated, and recent high-powered attempts to replicate in supported the null hypothesis. Carol Dweck makes big promises, but to overturn a century of intelligence science and some of the most well-tested and prediction-capable psychological theories out there i. A totally new perspective of how mind works. This book made me learn a lot and rethink the way my beliefs and communication hasn't been effective.

Very thought provoking and insightful to me! It hasn't change my lives just by listening it but it gathers great tools for me to do the work and change it by myself. I will keep this one in my return list so that I can relisten it over and over. Totally recommend! Add to Cart failed. Please try again later. Add to Wish List failed. Remove from wishlist failed.
