It also shows the adoptive parents waiting, praying, and hoping for their little boy. The story demonstrates the great joy everyone felt when the boy was adopted by his new parents, and all the ways they became a loving family. At the end of the story, Henry the Hoot Owl reveals that Avery is the little boy in the story. Jana used this heart-felt story that she had written to explain to Matthew that he is Avery in the story.

She reports that the story was a huge success. Reading it to Matthew didn't leave him wondering or having any questions about his adoption. Jana explains, "To our amazement, he was perfectly OK with this knowledge. Our son understood and our fears were erased. Jana was shocked and asked him if he recalled their talk and the story she had read to him.

Matthew said, "Yes, I remember the story. I held it in my heart. Matthew is seventeen today, and a senior in high school. Jana has thought for many years about sharing the story she wrote as a book, so that it might assist other adoptive parents to have a positive way to tell their children how they came to be a family.
