The game can be a bit intimidating, especially its skill trees and somewhat cumbersome map. Check out our detailed guides section to get started. After the success of Shadow Tactics in , the team took those same design tenets — small squads of specialized units tackling armies of soldiers with precision and quick-saving — to the Wild West with Desperados 3. Desperados 3 changes very little about what made Shadow Tactics great.
The adventure is made up of stellar levels that look more like dioramas brought to life, each filled with charm and detail, from the rainy streets of New Orleans to the dusty byways of a sun-beaten desert town. Fans of the classic Commandos series will feel right at home here. Old-school isometric role-playing games are having a bit of a renaissance of late, with winning franchises like Divinity , Pillars of Eternity , and Wasteland absolutely knocking it out of the park.
The award-winning role-playing game puts you in the shoes of a middle-aged detective, but this is your nor regular gumshoe story. From our review :. Disco Elysium tells the story of a grizzled detective who got so drunk he forgot who he was, and now has to solve a murder.
And what makes Disco Elysium so unique mechanically is its ludicrously detailed character creation and leveling system, and the amount of control it gives you over how you play your character while leaving plenty of room for surprises coming from the game itself. Get it here: Steam. From our review:.
Doom Eternal stands apart from its contemporaries, the big, gaudy, self-serious first-person shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield that demand instant, microscopic movements to perform headshots in order to survive against preternaturally gifted teens.
Because you must restore health and armor with close-range attacks, moving in and out of scrimmages becomes the foundation of winning strategies. A double jump, a double dash, and a hook that pulls you toward its living target all allow you to establish your distance, as do environments sprinkled with walls, hills, tunnels, platforms, and monkey bars — all meant to be used for cover and escape, but also your own amusement.

The sequel to the original Elite , a PC game that dates all the way back to , Elite: Dangerous and its Horizons expansion are a borderline spiritual spacefaring experience. At the core of this game is a realistic simulation of all billion star systems in the Milky Way galaxy. The secret is the so-called Stellar Forge, a procedural system that developer Frontier Developments used to realistically simulate the formation of our galaxy.
Using the best available astronomical data, the studio sort of threw all of creation into a digital rock tumbler and then continued to polish what fell out as an MMO. A recent effort to put new Fleet Carriers in every corner of the galaxy has contributed to a massive uptick in players, including all-time high player counts on Steam.

Once again, you begin in a cave full of spiders, skeletons, bats, and golden idols that egg you on to set to set off their lethal traps.
Except now, things are ever so different. Yellow lizards roll across the room like that big ball chasing Indy, and agitated moles cut through the ground like the graboids in Tremors. Your muscle memory is weaponized against you —Chris Plante. Listen: When the original version of Fortnite launched, I hated it.
There were zombies in it. You collected characters in the form of trading cards, and unlocked abilities from a skill tree. There was so much mindless clicking in the original version that my wrist would hurt after every each session.
That original mode, called Save the World, is still in the game. It even has a small, but devoted, ongoing fan base. Fortnite is arguably the biggest game in the world thanks to Battle Royale. Get it here: Epic Games Store. The original Half-Life tells the story of the MIT-educated theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman and a transdimensional rift that may someday kill us all.
As far as PC shooters go, Half-Life represents an inflection point for the entire genre, threading a nearly uninterrupted narrative through a seamless and carefully paced action spectacle.
While the gameplay itself more than holds up, the look and feel of the original leaves something to be desired. Two Revance members step forward preventing her from being assaulted, while her strong rejection inetitably irritates the man who in turn threatens to cut off any upcoming opportunity for her work. The young man is in fact the mysterious sixth Revance member known as Ryo; the actual lyricist for the band and the one responsible for her notebook disappearance.
Ryo then abandoned the group without leaving any trace behind, recommending the MC as the perfect candidate for their future lyrics. Routes available: Eight.
All Revance members including Ryo have their own route with POVs and substories, plus two more characters in the second part of the series. Endings: Romantic Ending and Dramatic Ending no bad ending.
I have a few considerations to make about this title. I actually streamed it on Discord via private screenshare for two friends of mine and we all agreed about the same negative aspects at the time.
For example, apart from Nagito the other Revance members are extremely harsh and teasing with the MC, to the point they may make you feel bad about yourself for a moment there if you are particularly sensitive. And here you may ask, why am I even recommending this title if I disliked it so much?
I admit it took me a while to actually feel into the story at all, but the more I played out of curiosity through free monthly stories, the more I started to see how nice and fun these guys can actually be. Kyohei develops a heartwarming devotion for the MC the moment he falls in love and no matter which route you go for, all members will clearly get attached to the girl and support her dreams whatever the consequences might be.
The plot will become more interesting as well the farther you go with it, introducing different kind of challenges for the couple with a good amount of angst and humor. The sequels and substories contain a lot of perks, which completely erased my initial impression and made me appreciate this series quite a lot recently and Little Yamada is enough reason to play it, no kidding. Developer: Nix Hydra Games Inc. Story: The player is a prodigy Magician, left on their own by their wandering Mentor Asra.
That same night, the mysterious Doctor Julian breaks in as soon as the Countess takes her leave. Where did your Mentor go and what is going on in the shadows? Routes available: Six one has been freshly released, only one chapter available Endings: Upright Ending and Reversed Ending.
The Arcana is an incredible journey through magic, fantastic creatures, love and mysteries to solve. The relationship between Asra and the player seems to go way beyond the Master-Apprentice connection, where a strong feeling on both parts can be seen from the first portion of the story. The game begins with a long prologue, which allows you to meet the most important characters and make you decide which one you want to romance in a route.
You can even switch between routes without losing progress, nor waiting to be done with one in order to start a new path. The art style is very different from the one we have seen so far in other visual novels, but I really love the character design and the colorful tones in the illustrations. Each book and the prologue itself use coins for the special choices and keys to re-read chapters, but you can also buy the different books for coins and unlock the paid choices along with them.
Keep in mind though that if you decide to get the whole thing for each character, the final cost might become a little too much to handle. If you still want to give this a shot without spending a similar amount of money, you can either avoid most of the special choices that would take a lot away from the experience, no doubt , or spin the wheel to gain free coins just like Lovestruck, the first draw is free while the others require 20 coins.
Developer: Lucydream Inc. These supernatural creatures hold animals and plants features and the lead female character is part of this incredible dimension herself. In order to investigate over a case that threatens to break peace between the two species, the lead female character transfers back to her old team in order to find out why a Mystic officer has been killed and who might be responsible for such a crime. Routes: This game is actually very recent and I just started to test it out on my own.
There are at least seven characters you may be able to choose from eventually including a female. If you like urban fantasy and investigations, this story may be a the perfect reading for you. You need clovers and keys to access collected notes, pick special choices, etc, while you can buy them regularly from the store as you do with any other app, you can also gain some by following specific instructions. It all depends on what works best for you.
On Love and Lovestruck there are many other series worth mentioning, but the list would become way too long for me to write.
Which Otome game did you play among the ones listed and which one is your favorite? Feel free to leave a comment below with your recommendation! Otome games are a niche sub-type of romance games for women where you play as only a female mc to romance male characters.
Which neither the Arcana, nor Havenfall is For Lovers are. There are, however, a few things that I need to point out.
Although The Arcana and Havenfall offer female, male and non-binary romance options along with the fact the MC in The Arcana can also be created according to your preference , as a female player you can still play the different routes and romance the male characters included.
