Windows 10 freezes when downloading

2021.12.20 17:37

The only thing thats been changed is that I upgraded the PC with a Noctua air cooler and a few news fans. Thank you guys in advance for any help. Could be a few things,.. Might help tp upload a Speccy report for people to look at..

Not sure if that would make a difference. I dont see the cooler being an issue. After all, its only cooling the CPU. Its only been a positive in lowering the temperature. What should I be looking for on my motherboard? The only thing Ive done is ensured all connections are secure and there is no dust buildup. Should I be monitoring something when I attempt to download a game? Im planning on heading to the local Walmart to buy a USB drive to run a Memtest on the RAM today and will make sure to get that report back to you guys.

With more free space added in, Windows 10 freezing issue may be removed.

It works great in system partition extension no matter there is unallocated space on the same drive or not. As long as a partition on the same drive has some free space, MiniTool Partition Wizard is helpful.

Free Download Buy Now. After installing MiniTool Partition Wizard, run it to get the main interface and then follow the simple guide below:.

Follow the instructions below to create a bootable rescue media and boot PC by using this media. When you are in MiniTool Partition Wizard Pro bootable edition , you may find that the drive letters have changed. Please find out the system partition by using the " Explore " feature. Step 4. Now shut down your PC and reboot it to check if Windows 10 keeps freezing. If some system files get corrupted or missing, Windows 10 can freeze randomly.

The good thing is that Microsoft makes it easy for you to get the original system files back with the built-in File System Checker. At Windows 10 Start menu, run Command Prompt as administrator.

Then allow it to make changes to this PC. Windows will scan your system for corrupted files and attempt to fix. So please be patient. If no problem is found or this fix does not help, continue with the next Windows 10 freezing fix. Updating drivers to the latest is always one choice when operating system goes abnormally. Here you can do the following simple things:. Click Windows 10 Start menu, click " Run ", type " devmgmt.

Expand the categories to find the name of your devices. Then right-click on it and select " Update Driver Software… ". In the pop-up window, choose " Search automatically for updated driver software ". Please make sure you have an active Internet connection. Click " Restart now and check for problems recommended " to check for problems immediately.

If you want to check later, click " Check for problems the next time I start my computer ". Windows will then restart, and you'll see this page showing the progress of the check and the number of passes it will run on memory. If you don't see any errors here, your memory card probably isn't the problem, and you should try the next Windows 10 freezing fix.

Virtual memory is a combination of your RAM and a portion of your hard drive. It is mainly used to extend your computer's physical memory. I also tried copying all of the doom files of her pc to my pc - but doom ALWAYS fails to start up, stating something with "files corrupted".

I tried recopying files, but also to no avail. I also tried to fix this the Steam-way, i. It ran through, downloading at least a dozen GB of data and magically running through without crashing I get the impression that those doom game files are somehow extremely weird and prone to be corrupted or something.

I'm giving up on this issue and try to play doom on my girlfriend's pc when she is not using it. I hope that this issue will not affect any other games on steam Have you tried using steams 'backup and restore' functionality to transfer the files to your computer? I've had some issues too with copying just the files from one pc to another with certain games.

Also: If the diagnosis ran through without any errors, you can be pretty certain there's no hardware fault present. That's good. So I created a backup of Doom on my girlfriends computer, copied it over to my computer - where the first copy attempt under windows caused a crash Back to windows - the first Steam restore attempt created a freeze But the game didn't start - again with the "files corrupted" error.

I'm sick of this It really appears that my damn hardware is not able to work with the Doom ed files. I give up on this. Guess I have to play it on my girlfriends computer when she isn't using it. Thanks for your responses though Originally posted by Reogaz :. Check the box, and select 4 as the number of possessors.

It seems windows 10 is known for not reading the cpu type correctly, and that should fix it. This was not an issue for windows 7, and I would still be using windows 7 if it only the latest directx was compatible, and the fact I now have gb of ram. You know, PC elitist problems.
