Tbh when midas threw that powerful hit, pretty unrealistic. Imagine that large mass that makes contact to a solid that causes it to reflex like a liquid. That was equivalent to an explosion which means Midas should of damaged that arm from that type of hit. Me waiting in part still waiting in part 2 And I play that's game can't someone watch. I can confirm, in 2020 people still refer to things as “ridonculous”. Jelena mcwilliams bio. 1:56 Right in the batteries. I have this movie. Cinema Sins: sins this movie Me: bro. this is one of the greatest movies of all time
Look I know I'm complaining to something that happened years ago but christ is that kid annoying. I can't be the only one that thinks this.
I had pretty low expectations of this movie. The premise of remote controlled humanoid robots boxing was not really my cup of tea.
However, a very good friend of mine, whose opinion I value highly, had suggested the movie with great enthusiasm and loaned me the BluRay copy to watch. I put this off until a rainy Sunday afternoon where there was not much else happening and I had the house to myself.
The first fight scene between a robot and a 'non-robot' almost had me turning the movie off with a high and mighty "I knew it"
but I continued
And I'm glad I did.
The movie turned out to be multi-dimensional, with splashes of humour, a nicely understated but always present romance, and the developing father/son relationship was really quite heartwarming. The action was exciting, and sometimes edge of my seat.
I was extremely thankful that they never really gave the robots any emotion, as this would have made it uncomfortable to watch. I never really felt for the robots themselves, and for that I was truly thankful. The story is really about the relationship between the father and son.
Hugh Jackman was believable as the single minded, down and out ex-boxer with a money problem. And not to bad to look at either
boy was he buff for this movie
damn! Dakota Goyo was enjoyable to watch as Max (the son) and I loved the confidence he exuded as an 11 year old with total faith that everything was going to work out
The shadow boxing program that allowed him to dance with Atom was a nice little touch, although, I wish they'd continued that for the final showdown – I felt the absence of this. Evangeline Lilly was really great as the love interest, and I was happy to see her reappear on the screen after being "Lost" The antagonists in the movie were well cast, in that I hated them on-site! Especially the rodeo guy.
There were a few moments that had me scratching my head
such as who leaves an 11 year old for the summer with someone he's never met, even if that someone is the biological father? And the ending left me wondering what kind of relationship the father and son would have from that point forward; I would have liked those ends tidied. But, overall it was an enjoyable, and pleasantly surprising, few hours.
