And can Torchwood save the alien from being used as cheap meat? It's also the best episode this season for Gwen, and tied in very well with who she was in season one, and why Jack brought her to the team in the first place: because she still cared about people.

Burn Gorman proved his acting chops in portraying a man who wasn't dead but wasn't quite alive either. Owen had previously been something of a one-note character and Gorman did a great job fleshing him out more in this season.

The show made great use of James Marsters this season, in his two appearances at the first and final episodes. Marsters seemed to be heavily cribbing from his performance as Buffy 's Spike, but Hart was different and interesting enough that it didn't matter.

Less successful was the inclusion of Freema Agyeman as Martha. The show barely gave her anything to do, and it almost seemed a waste of time including her at all. The best thing you can say about a season of television is that you'd like to see another. I think that's certainly true of Torchwood. It's yet to live up to its potential except for a few episodes here and there and with the changes made in this season's finale , it's hard not to be curious about what Season 3 would bring.
