Apple also announced an official release date for its next major update to the Mac operating system, Monterey. Previewed earlier this year, macOS Monterey is currently in beta testing and is expected to be released to the public on 25 October.

There were no hardware announcements for Apple's lone smart speaker, but we did get three new finishes. Learn more Home Laptops Laptop news Apple laptop news. Why you can trust Pocket-lint. Writing by Maggie Tillman. There are also speculations that the launch event may see the arrival of a new Mac mini. In addition to the new Mac devices, Apple is expected to bring its long-awaited AirPods 3 to the event. The most anticipated launch at today's Apple event are the new MacBook Pro models that are rumoured to have and inch display options — both come with a new Apple silicon.

There is speculation that it will be called the M1X or maybe M2. It is expected to include four additional high-performance cores over the existing M1 chip. The new Apple processor is also rumoured to have come with the option to choose up to 32 graphics cores, up from the maximum eight graphics cores available on the M1. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted a significant redesign on the new offerings that could include the comeback of the earlier MagSafe charging connector as well as additional ports for enhanced connectivity.

Today's Apple event is also expected to bring an upgrade to the Mac mini, with the M1X chip that is rumoured to come on the new MacBook Pro models. Like the iPhone 12, we're expecting four iPhone 13 models, likely powered by the A15 Bionic chip and said to feature smaller notches on their displays. Expect the same sized phones as the iPhone 12, too.

The iPhone 13 Pro models sound like it'll get the more substantial upgrades with fast-refreshing displays and improved cameras, particularly the ultrawide angle lens. We'd expect some other products to join the iPhone 13 on stage.

Apple reportedly is working on the AirPods 3 , and the new wireless earbuds seem like a natural fit to include in a phone launch, especially since Apple no longer includes headphones with its handsets. Likewise, the Apple Watch 7 could ship alongside the iPhone Most of the ambitious health features sound like they're slated for post Apple Watch releases, but we are anticipating a new look with flatter, bigger displays.

Mixed production delay reports leave us unsure of whether it'll be ready for September 14th's event, so we'll have to wait to see. That's not all.
