A stack of 20 solid stone is worth around 5 gold, with this number varying somewhat server by server. Furthermore, if you happen to have fishing skill, you can double dip and fish the schools of stonescale eel and flotsam on the eastern coast.

Much like Tanaris, the Badlands is full of mithril ore. There are also iron deposits here, but the iron ore and heavy stone they drop aren't quite as valuable as the solid stones you'll find in mithril deposits. While grinding out the ores here for solid stone is great, the real appeal of this zone is the earth elementals you'll run across along your routes.

They have a chance to drop more solid stones as well as the valuable reagent Elemental Earth. While Elemental Earth isn't especially expensive right now, when the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj drops in phase 5 the price for this reagent will sky rocket. In other words, this is a long term investment spot. One that will pay out heavily for those willing to suffer the wait.

The Western Plaguelands is another lesser-known farming spot for miners. There may not be a grand circuit of rich thorium veins like in some of the more popular spots, but there are pockets of the stuff in a couple of locations along the route. These locations are Hearthglen to the north, as well as the cave on the left side of the river on the eastern side of the map.

Beyond that, you'll be picking up small thorium veins and mithril deposits everywhere else. As far as the total potential of the route, Western Plaguelands pales in comparison to some of the later entries on this list.

That being said, when those superior locations are saturated with miner competition, WPL is one of the few places where you can pick up rich thorium veins with rarely any competition.

While home to the valuable rich thorium vein, Azshara's spawns are few and far in-between. This might be a problem that players would tackle, but almost a third of the nodes are located on small islands throughout the flooded middle portions of the map.

Swimming across half the zone for a lesser chance at rich thorium veins than other zones isn't exactly an appealing option. As a result, Azshara is often ignored by mining entrepreneurs.

This being the case, Azshara can provide some decent results when the more popular locations are too competitive. You will have to fight mobs and you will get dismounted if you go inside. You might also get lost in those caves because it's hard to find out. If you are level 50 and have done the Argus questline, Silithus will be phased and most Thorium Veins will not be there. These are the best zones if you want to farm Thorium Ore. Zygor's Leveling Guide I recommend trying Zygor's Leveling Guide if you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt.

These veins are most commonly found in Silithus and Un'Goro Crater. Thorium Ore is smelted into Thorium Bars at a forge , requiring a mining skill of or more. Thorium Bars are used in the production of many items made by Alchemy , Blacksmithing , Enchanting , Engineering , and Jewelcrafting.

Thorium Ore can be prospected consuming 5 ore with a Jewelcrafting skill of or more, resulting in:. This rare metal combines the weight of lead with the strength of steel. Orcs prize it for weapons because the extra weight allows a skilled user to strike with more force. Thorium armor is amazingly heavy and strong-only adamantine pierces it with any degree of reliability.

Comment by ColinatorGX Despite there being several good locations for mining extensive ammounts of thorium ore, my preferred one would still be Un'Goro Creater.

The fastest way to find nodes in Un'Goro is to simply do circular circunventions of the area. A full circunvention, starting and ending in Marshall's Refuge almost always yields 2 or 3 stacks of thorium ore, occasionally even more than that, plus several precious stones that can be sold in the AH. That makes an average of 60 thorium ores per circunvention of the area, making it in my eyes a prime location for farming Thorium.

I'm using Gatherer, and it's reporting huge numbers of "new" nodes around the whole outside by which I mean nodes I haven't seen before, and that aren't in the database I've downloaded either. Many of them are rich ones, especially in the southern half of the area. Very few are set back any distance from the crater floor, either, so almost all of them show up if you just run around the edge in a circle.

Struggling into the awkward places such as the caves is just a waste of mining time, because there's another node waiting just a few more yards round the edge. I netted ore in two quick circuits last night almost exactly 80 per circuit. Edit: Added another 4 circuits this evening, making 6 in all. Total: thorium dense stone plus small quantities of mithril and truesilver Also: 2 blue sapphire 7 star ruby 6 huge emerald 2 large opal 5 azerothian diamond 13 arcane crystal 2 black vitriol My yield per circuit held up initially.

I definitely had competition during the final two circuits, though, and my totals for each were about 20 down on the previous ones roughly 60 per circuit as opposed to Approximate time for a full circuit, 15 minutes level 76 character on epic land mount - so that's one thorium roughly every 12 seconds overall. Tempting to simply drop the Dense Stone as it has almost no value on my server 5 silver each and would significantly increase the amount of time between city runs. Only problem with this run as a gold source is that with so much thorium hitting the market, prices will tend to fall significantly.

Best soulution to this would probably be to do a run every other day and slowly leak it onto the market. While doing this run, I also grabed some of the Un'goro Soil between nodes as it usualy goes for about 1g a piece, stacks to , and drops in fairly large batches. Good luck! The veins basically spawn almost instant, once I mined an rich thorium ore, started moving and a new vein popped on the minimap before I could get out of the scanners range. Just circuit around the edges, lots of thorium ore guaranteed if there is no competition. Comment by I farmed for about 1 hour of Thorium in Un'goro Crater at about am server time since no one was online i got at least ores easy. After that I lost the count but I would say that in a few minutes if no one else is in there you could make yourslef some decent gold in no time since this is probably the ore that is the highest lvl before Outlands without counting Elementium Ore in BWL and i recomend to all miners to NOT smelt the ores and simply sell them on the AH if the ores worht more then bars of course because JC need them to prospect.

But if you will use the bars as a blacksmith or enigeering you should maybe get some few more for some extra gold in your pocket. Comment by 1 Lap around un'goro got me stacks of thorium ore no1 farms it on my backwater server and the gems sold in less than 10 minutes and i made triple the amount of gold i would have made from just thorium ore since it only goes for like 8g a stack of thorium.

Comment by Samander In my experience which is extensive the best place to farm thorium ore is Silithus, which I believe was stated above, due to the rate at which you will encounter a node AND the chance of that node being a rich one.

I do not know if they have buffed the rate at which nodes spawn, spawn locations, etc. The downside: stacks on my server are going for 10g. Comment by I have came across a grinding spot for thorium ore and i found a nice spot that is not listed. I was only farming it for about 20 minutes and go about 2 stacks. Take into mind, I'm a level 52 holy priest running around looking for ore and there are a lot more higher leveled mobs in Blasted Lands than in Swamp of Sorrows. That's my take. I don't know if it was an amazing luck or what, but i farmed 5 stacks and half in literally 10 minutes in winterspring The simplicity of the map means you just have to run round the full circle, staying close to the mountains that surround it. I also noticed insane amounts of Rich Thorium Vein, which is good because you'll get more in a quicker amount of time.

Comment by Scrapman Ok so as I was reading this I was currently lvling up Jewelcrafting on a toon and needed some Huge Emeralds for the 10 skill points you basically cannot circumvent with another item. Getting really technical with this if you replace the 30 non thorium nodes with thorium instead that would add another 4.

We will leave out the mobs encountered. No sense in getting too deep into it. Giving us a grand possible total of Thorium Ore 23 stacks with remainder of 18 24 stacks of ore in 30mins flat why even bother with any other area considering the simplicity of Un Goro?
