This will help to seal it from any spills in your drawers. If you choose not to add paper to the sides, then skip that part and just paper the bottom and add a coat of sealer. As I mentioned in Step 4, the paper should be longer than the edges of the drawer. But make sure you only sand in one direction. Sanding in one direction towards you at angle cuts the paper off right at the edge of the drawer, creating a perfect fit! Notice how crisp the paper is on the right side of the box?

When the edges are all sanded and perfect, apply a light coat of sealer to the edges of the drawer, extending the sealer onto the edges of inside drawer, helping to re-seal any of the paper due to sanding. Usually, the drawers are all old, yellowed, worn out or stained.

A quick swipe over with them with the sander helps to get out blotches and yellowing and makes the outside of the drawer boxes feel fresher! I know I would like it that way for me. I love to line drawers, and your right it adds that final bit of pizazz and personality. It never occurred to me to try wrapping paper!! How silly of me!! Drawer liners have very functional, utilitarian purposes that have the power to upgrade your drawers. There are many options for lining dresser drawers. One of the easiest things to use is self-stick contact paper. All you have to do is cut the paper to shape, peel off the backing, and stick it to the drawer.

Many of these contact papers are smooth. This makes it effortless to wipe down the lining if dust collects or if you spill something inside of the drawer. Sometimes an accidental spill occurs and you need to clean it up quickly. A non-porous surface makes it great for those craft dressers! Believe it or not, regular wrapping paper can also be used.

Give drawers an upgrade by lining them with a soft protective material-like felt or leather -which will protect the interior surface from dings and scratches especially if you're storing valuables like jewelry. For a waterproof alternative, try colorful oilcloth. Just cut the oilcloth to fit the bottom, leaving enough to allow extra width for overhang-no sewing required.
