How many sith are there at one time
I realize Darth Bane's philosophy mandated there being two Sith at a time; "A master and an apprentice". Improve this question. Being a dark side user doesn't make you a Sith. Dooku has an apprentice Ventress at the same time that he and Sidious are the two Sith.
The whole point is that there are only two dark side Force users who are official Sith. Chirrut has the light side of the Force, but he's not a Jedi. That the two Lords are constantly cultivating apprentices for their eventual removal of the other Lord testifies that it's central to their thinking. Again, the Sith are a specific order not a term for all users of the dark side.
You seem to be arguing really hard against the rules of a weird sci-fi sect. They made the rules. If the two Sith say nobody else gets to be Sith, then nobody does. I don't really Are you asking if this rule is benefitial to the Sith, or whether it would actually work, or what? Show 8 more comments. Active Oldest Votes. This naturally brings into question the death and subsequent Force Ghosting of Anakin Skywalker in Return of the Jedi.
Anakin had killed the Emperor, his Master, and risen to become the Dark Lord of the Sith before dying as Anakin Skywalker … did he learn some skill from Palpatine? Does the Dark Side of the Force consider returning as an apparition to be some sort of trick rather than a true conquering of death? Since Disney bought Lucasfilm and rebooted the canon , fans have received subtle hints that the Emperor had many devious projects going on while we were so focused on the rise of Darth Vader and the Empire.
From abducting Force sensitive children and hunting down the last of the Jedi to excavating the Sith temple on Coruscant and establishing secret outposts filled with powerful artifacts, the Emperor never put all of his Force eggs in one basket.
The heroes of that series are introduced to a glowing red, triangular device called a Sith Holocron that could be used to unlock a weaponized Sith Temple hidden on a planet called Malachor. According to Rebels , as Empire took over different planets in the solar system, Palpatine was expanding his knowledge in The Dark Side.
He eventually loses control of his experiment and dies in the process. After the events of Revenge of the Sith , Palpatine found the mask and Momin showed the Emperor his past. Darth Sidious gave the mask as a gift to Darth Vader around the time he moved to Mustafar, the lava planet where he fought Obi-Wan Kenobi.
A predictable and Sith-y thing happens: Momin double-crosses Vader and uses the portal to resurrect his body, don his possession mask, and become a real Momin again. Which does a lot to explain why Vader stops looking for a way to conquer death, but also sounds a lot like Darth Momin found out a way to resurrect himself by using his consciousness in a possessed object.
That might be the type of immortality the Emperor would be interested in. Concurrently, Xev Xrexus from the Xrexus Cartel theorized the Sith's comeback, leading Maul to kill her [23] as Sidious threatened him with death if they were prematurely discovered.
During the Battle of Naboo , which broke the Federation's blockade , Maul killed Jinn only to be seemingly killed in turn by Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi , leading the Jedi to realize the return of the Sith. Dooku ensured that Jak'zin was killed, though he lamented that his death was a pity.
During the next decade , Dooku aided his master in engineering the Clone Wars, including orchestrating Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas ' death, and then to use his name to order an army of clone troopers to be created for the Republic [29] and selecting bounty hunter Jango Fett as the genetic template for the clones.
However, Sidious, believing Dooku may have been training her to destroy him and sensing that her power had grown, ordered Dooku to eliminate her. Dooku obeyed his master and left her for dead following the Battle of Sullust. The duel between Sidious, Maul and Savage Opress was an example of the struggles that the Rule of Two was created to prevent. Maul later revealed himself to be alive and took Opress as his apprentice, making two rival pairs of Sith.
Anakin Skywalker to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader and replacing Tyranus as Sidious' apprentice. In 19 BBY , [25] shortly before the end of the Clone Wars, General Grievous kidnapped Palpatine, which was a plan orchestrated by Sidious, in order to bring Anakin Skywalker to the dark side and replace Dooku as his next apprentice.
Palpatine's capture led to Kenobi and Skywalker to be dispatched to rescue him aboard the Invisible Hand. During a lightsaber duel aboard the ship , Skywalker defeated and disarmed Dooku. Sidious then betrayed his apprentice by encouraging Anakin to kill the Sith Lord, paving the way for Skywalker to take the older man's place.
After Dooku's death, Sidious and his Jedi rescuers eventually made it back to Coruscant. Studentless again, Sidious seduced Skywalker to the dark side by telling him about Plagueis upon discovering his fears that Amidala, his secret wife , would die in childbirth.
Skywalker initially revealed Palpatine's secret to Mace Windu , who then attempted to arrest the Chancellor. Skywalker, however, was forced to turn on the Jedi to save Palpatine from being killed, leading to Windu's death. Sidious issued Order 66, [22] causing the biochips to activate and brainwash the clone troopers into turning against their Jedi Generals , [38] while Vader purged the Jedi Temple on Coruscant under Sidious's order.
Vader then executed the Separatist Council , at the behest of Sidious who no longer required their service, while Sidious proclaimed himself Galactic Emperor , reorganizing the Republic into the First Galactic Empire. However, neither Sith Lord was destroyed.
Sidious survived his battle with Yoda who subsequently fled into exile. Vader sustained grievous injuries in his duel with Kenobi, and was rebuilt as a cyborg encased within life support armor. Despite learning of Amidala's death, Vader accepted his new role as Sidious' apprentice, renouncing his former identity as Skywalker. Sidious also tried to create a dyad with his own apprentice, Darth Vader. Yet, even with the Chosen One at his side, Sidious was unable to form the dyad. He started to doubt if dyad was possible at all if two most powerful bloodlines in the galaxy — Palpatine and Skywalker —could not produce such a bond.
The Inquisitors were fallen Jedi who escaped the purge by swearing fealty to the Sith. During the Imperial Era , Vader taught the Inquisitorius , a group of former Jedi who had turned to the dark side, and were tasked with hunting down the remaining Jedi, though the Inquisitors themselves only served the Sith and were not considered Sith apprentices, being mere dark side adepts.
The scientist considered Vader a ceremonial apprentice, and therefore believed that his cybernetically enhanced creations were superior to the Sith Lord. Sidious had grown to doubt Vader as an apprentice, and considered replacing him with one of Cylo's creations. Vader regarded Cylo's work as heresy, his creations as abominations; however, the Emperor chastised Vader who was also a cyborg.
He reminded Vader that, as an apprentice, it was his duty to learn rather than preach doctrine. Vader, however, eventually proved himself to his master and killed each of Cylo's creations and Cylo himself. He recounted that it took generations before the Sith could return to power through him. He also remembered his former apprentices, Darth Maul and Darth Tyranus, and considered them tools in his ascension to ultimate power. He credited Vader as his ideal apprentice, but Vader dismissed the Emperor's words as false flattery, believing that Sidious would have made a similar speech to any of Cylo's warriors had they succeeded in defeating him.
Vader endeavored to turn Luke Skywalker to the dark side, believing their combined power could kill Darth Sidious. Upon learning the existence of Luke Skywalker , Vader's secret son and the Rebel pilot who destroyed the Death Star , both made plans to use Luke to overthrow each other. Vader desired for Luke to help him overthrow Sidious, so the two could rule the galaxy. Sidious, on the other hand, planned to have Luke kill Vader and then replace him as Sidious's apprentice.
