The nose is simply exquisite. Perfumed with lime and baked apple, but also flowers and touches of sherry. The whole goes hand-in-glove with toffee and new leather. Marvellous nose! On the palate, it's less creamy than excpected, but still a nice mouthfeel.

It tastes wonderfully sweet with the apples and toffee from the nose at the fore. Add heather and walnuts and the picture is complete. It's even got a touch of peat. The finish is long and heart warming and makes the components HP and Macallan shout out.

The business was passed down within the Gloag family for generations, changing hands from Matthew to his son William, and later, his grandson Matthew Gloag III.
