The couple started trying for a baby in and were overjoyed when in , after years of trying and a lot of planning, Nell fell pregnant. But just before their baby's due date - they had decided to name their gorgeous boy Lucky - they were given some devastating news.

During that time, I set up a bar fridge and a gas stove at the hospital because I wanted to feed Nell and our baby the best food. She was hungry and he was still kicking. I said to her afterwards, 'We fed him well, right up until the end'. I realised I didn't need that anymore and started crying. We were devastated at losing Lucky but determined to get through. Nell said, 'We must never lose that love that made Lucky. Kylie says the period after the devastating loss was a dark time for the couple.

I am just trying to be as positive as possible and getting on and see the good in things. It happens to a lot of people and when it happens, people don't know how to react to it or what to say to you.

I take my hat off to all those people who have had stillborn babies. Kylie and Nell have been through hell and back, but are now stronger than ever. Kylie recently closed her iconic Sydney restaurants Billy Kwong. Kylie proposed to Nell on her 40th birthday in , but says it took a while for the couple to actually get married because they were so busy. When Kylie turned 50 in March this year, she decided she wanted to be married by then.

They planned to get married in a rooftop garden in Sydney's Potts Point, but on the day it was pouring with rain. That always caused hilarity. We were warned that many couples break up after a stillbirth, so we were aware of that and got through it day by day. I was thrilled when Kylie proposed. We didn't expect marriage to feel any different; given what we had survived together, we didn't think we could feel any more deeply.

But once married, it did feel different: so natural, so right. Our wedding was magic. There was no honeymoon — I felt lucky that Kylie took the day off! In late , she worked extremely hard to open Billy Kwong in its current Potts Point location. I was very proud of her and happy to support her, although it wasn't easy. We tried to be kind to each other — we wrote notes to each other, and if Kylie had a night off she would cook for me.

We got into some good routines — Kylie would text me when she was coming home and I would run a bath for her, and we wouldn't talk until after she had wound down in the bath. Apart from her cooking especially her red-braised caramelised wallaby tail with black bean and chilli , what I love most about Kylie is the quality of her passion and how it manifests in her work, and her generosity. Her commitment to Indigenous foods and her work around sustainability and organic and biodynamic produce are a real turn-on.

The only thing I would change is that she is a chronic hoarder. I am neat, and she isn't. So, when she goes away, I throw things away. She never notices. Kylie used to tell me that she'd always imagined her life partner would be a dark-haired Italian woman; little did she know she'd end up with a strawberry blonde from Maitland.

Our relationship is deep, mysterious and right. Two of Us: 'To be in Kylie's orbit is like being in a tsunami of love'. Please try again later.
