2022.01.06 17:58

Both his parents were kind people and they were both deaf. Because of Linda, I was not afraid to be friends with Rachelene in kindergarten. She was going deaf and could not speak clearly.

She had to wear hearing aids in both ears. In hearing aids were big, bulky and unattractive. Because of Linda, I am not afraid to take this class. Linda instilled in me a desire to learn sign language and be able to communicate with the deaf community. Linda taught me that it is OK to be different. Each one of us is special in some way, but on the inside we are all people. We should all love, care for and respect each other. My favorite people from deaf history are Marlee Matlin and Linda Bove.

Marlee Matlin has shown us that being deaf is not a disability. She has accomplished many things in her life and still continues to inspire me.

She has the courage to defeat all of the demons in her life and continues to reach for the stars. Linda Bove has inspired me since I was little. Watching her on Sesame Street was always a joy. Both of these women have shown me that you can accomplish anything if you want it bad enough. I am not deaf or hard of hearing. I have always wanted to learn ASL and I am enrolled in a college that does not teach it. I have just finished a paper for one of my classes stating that, sign language is just as important to learn as any other language.

I am appalled that the deaf were treated so badly in the past. I feel that they have accommodated the hearing world for years; it is only fair that we give back by learning ASL! She was born in in Garfield, New Jersey, to her parents who were both Deaf.

The career move proved a good choice for her, as she made her debut on Broadway, followed by ultimately scoring a role on the beloved show, Sesame Street. Maybe a love relationship with Bob. By the s, roles for deaf actors had increased substantially and Bove continued expanding her horizons.

During the episode, Bove played an electric company employee who meets Fonzie when he attempts to straighten out a billing error for Howard. Bove co-founded DWT, a Los Angeles sign-language theater which features deaf and hearing actors telling stories together using ASL and spoken or sung English, with her husband in Since then the married duo have produced more than 40 plays and four musicals and won more than 80 awards for their work.

As she continues to reinvent herself, she sets an inspiring example for all who aspire to be heard. Debbie Clason holds a master's degree from Indiana University. Her impressive client list includes financial institutions, real estate developers, physicians, pharmacists and nonprofit organizations. Read more about Debbie.
