What is the difference between personification and metaphor

Just as we bite into a candy from a variety box of chocolates unsure if the center will be peanut butter or raspberry, we get out of bed each morning unsure what will happen over the course of the day. This was a bit helpful however, it didn't really help me understand what a Simile is, a Metaphor or a Personification is. However, use of metaphor makes the speech so much more powerful as it draws a direct comparison between two totally different things, you and what you eat.
