Performance Performance. None of these, however, can quite compete with the true most powerful bending ability: bloodbending. Bloodbending is also more difficult to fight than these techniques.
While Azula, Iroh, Ozai and Mako all show impressive displays of strength with lightning, it never appears all that much more powerful than their natural firebending. Metalbending and lavabending likewise are powerful combat techniques, but their advantage is more situational, and even the masters of each bending discipline seem just as strong when resorting to regular earthbending techniques.
Bloodbending, however, is nearly impossible to fight. Not only can you alter the form of the water from steam to ice you can also use waterbending to heal. And not to mention Bloodbending which allows you to either freeze or boil someone alive, I know it is very bleak view of the world of Avatar the Last Airbender but it could happen. What do you guys think?? You definitely have a fair point but if you put the strongest benders of each nation to a free for all Iroh, Katara, Toph and Aang who do you think will be left standing?
This is also with aang only using airbending and nothing else. Aang isn't the strongest airbender. Zaheer is. Amon is. With those benders in a free for all we have already discussed but I will copy paste for you. Ok how about this lest but all of the best benders in a fight. Water-Amon, air-Zaheer, earth- Toph and fire- Iroh. Amon vs Zaheer when they fight while Zaheer fly it could possibly be hard for Amon to blood bend and he could get blown away so Zaheer wins.
Zaheer vs iroh Zaheer might fly but iroh is very smart and could defeat a whole bunch of benders but its very hard to decide between iroh or Zaheer so what do you guys think who would win iroh or Zaheer.
I personally think it's Zaheer because Iroh is a close-range fighter. He utilizes mostly grabbing and short bursts of fire attacks to put his enemies off balance.
The only time we have seen him use a long-range attack was under the power of Sozin's Comet. But Zaheer can fight close-range and long-range. He is a martial arts master and can fly. Due to the abundance of spirits in the Avatar world, fans believe this ability would come in handy.
That said, the effectiveness of spiritbending isn't always a certainty, and spiritbending has also been seen to be ineffective against spirit vines. This ability doesn't appear in the Avatar universe until the third season of The Legend of Korra , but lavabending is a highly formidable and strong subskill of earthbending.
A lavabender user can overwhelm other benders quickly and inflict mass destruction, as seen when Ghazan demolishes a section of Ba Sing Se's wall in a matter of seconds. Putting aside destructive power though, lavabending lacks essentially any practical use which limits its favorability. Another potent and destructive ability, combustionbending was popularized by Combustionman in Avatar: The Last Airbender and then never seen again until season three of the Legend of Korra with P'Li.
Being able to generate massive explosions from long-range gives combustionbenders an edge that allows them to overpower their opponents, even when outnumbered. Like lavabending, combustionbending lacks the practicality of other bending subskills and also requires the user to have a chi spot on their forehead which acts as a point of weakness. Seismic sense is a Daredevil -like ability that allows earthbenders to detect vibrations in the area around them, being able to sense everything from enemies to the location of certain objects or people.
This technique is what allows Toph to be able to "see". Besides the clearly obvious advantage of being able to track and predict your opponent's movements without having to look at them, seismic sense also has many practical uses and would come in handy outside of combat scenarios. Flight as an actual ability, as opposed to short bursts of flight sustained by firebenders or airbenders using gliders and wingsuits, is another very rare specialized bending technique.
