Can you paint fabric bins
I didn't paint the insides, but you definitely could! Good luck with your project! A fresh coat of paint will do wonders! I love these! I have the exact same piece that needs some love.
I was going to trash it but decided to Google how to paint them first. So glad I did! I am not crafty so can you please tell me exactly what type of paint to buy? Also did you draw the designs free hand? Thanks in advance for your help. I did draw the designs freehand. No worries though. If that sounds intimidating, find some clip art online, print it out, then trace it onto the canvas with a pencil. Then all you have to do is fill it in with the paint.
If you do a chevron pattern, you can just draw lines with a ruler. For the polka dots, just trace circles. It really isn't hard. I know this is old, but do you have an actual name of the paint, you keep showing links that no longer exist.
Hope that helps! What a good idea! So cute and artsy-fartsy! I bought similar bins with cardboard supports a few weeks ago. Now I know how to pretty them up. Thanks for the quick and easy tutorial. Love your make-over of the frame and bins. I am considering painting the frame a color also…. I have the exact same thing, which I got at a yard sale too. The bins are also dingy and I too thought I could just throw them in the wash until I saw the cardboard.
But really I wish I could just send them to you and ask you to paint them beautifully like you did with yours. Congratulations on doing an awesome job with those bins! These are so awesome! I started painting mine after reading your post. Did you have to do multiple coats of the base colors? Good luck Stephanie! So glad I found this! So glad I came across this. Already have all the acrylic paints. Thank you! This is a very old Post but still a great idea!!!
You have just saved me from wasting money on new fabric bins! In this crafty era you can paint Anything and a paint product to help get it done. Are you still blogging? Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. I got super lucky finding this post. I am doing my first project and it has canvas drawers similar to yours. Thank you for this info. I am no longer nervous about painting them. Name please. E-mail please. Your thoughts? Modern life and design in our historical American Foursquare home.

Your email address will not be published. Tutorial The most important step in prepping the fabric for chalk paint is to first mist the fabric thoroughly with water using a sprayer. The fabric should be damp but not completely wet. You could either use a brush or a roller to paint. I found using a roller a lot faster and the coverage more even. Let dry for a couple of hours. Depending on how much paint the fabric has soaked in it might take longer to dry. With a stencil adhesive position the stencil on the flat side of the bin.
