Should i buy a retro duo

NES games look great too, except playing them in S-Video causes the display to be black and white for some reason. The sound, however, is a little off.

I got all the way through Super Mario Bros. Mario I had to reset and turn the music off. It looked like SMB3 to me. Here it is in its new home on top of my Xbox , loaded with a couple great games and ready to play! The console is extremely lightweight and lacks eject buttons for either of its cartridge slots. I have to hold the damn thing down with one hand as I use the other to wrench the cartridges loose. SNES games sit nice and snug, but NES games have quite a bit of slack, probably due to how little of the actual cart needs to go inside the system.

Another problem some of these knock-offs tend to have and share with the top-loading NES, actually is an inability to fit strangely-shaped carts, including Game Genies. I am not tech savvy by any means, so bear with me. After turning it on and scrolling through the different inputs, nothing worked.

I got No Signal on the screen every time. You can especially hear it in the music, which still sounds good but is slightly altered or missing that extra 8-bit or bit beat. If you're a nerd like me, you'll notice these minor glitches.

But again, it's better than having a system that freezes every time someone stomps their feet near the console. Of course, you could just legally download a bunch of roms and emulate the experience on your PC for free. But to me, it's just not the same as holding a controller and watching Mega Man jump and shoot on your television screen. The Retro Duo is strictly for the nostalgic gamer, not the cheap one. It does come with two SNES clone controllers in colors to match the system.

These controllers do feel a bit cheap compared to the original SNES controllers. One of the biggest differences I noticed between the Retro Duo controllers and the original SNES controllers is that the X and Y buttons aren't concave on the Retro Duo controllers like they are on the original controllers.

There is now also a portable version of the Retro Duo available. The Retro Duo Portable has a 3. It can play SNES cartridges via its cartridge slot in the back.

Though there are some emulation issues, the Retro Duo is a worthwhile investment for gamers who enjoy classic gaming. Because it plays games from all regions, it is a worthwhile console for anyone who is interested in playing import games, even if you already own the original consoles. The controllers that come with the Retro Duo are nothing special, but they can easily be replaced with original SNES controllers or better quality reproductions.

I used to play those old games and have been wanting to play them again. Thanks for the review, I'm going to check out the Retro Duo for sure. I'm picky enough that the minor flaws in clone consoles, such as colors being off, music not playing right and actual lock-ups are too distracting.
