Nick is an inspiration worldwide with crowds and the media for his positive attitude towards overcoming obstacles and achieving dreams. A longtime resident of Australia, he now lives in southern California with his wife, Kanae, and son, Kiyoshi. Download cover.

Life Without Limits is the story of gutsy Nick Vujicic, an amazing year-old Aussie born without arms or legs who is now an internationally successful inspirational speaker. Even still, her apprehension persisted. They told my parents that the baby was a boy but not a word about missing limbs! As the seconds ticked by and they were still not bringing the baby for her to see, she sensed even more that something was wrong.

Instead of giving me to my mother to hold, they summoned a pediatrician and moved off to the opposite corner, examining me and conferring with each other. When my mum heard a big healthy baby scream, she was relieved. But my dad, who had noticed I was missing an arm during the delivery, felt queasy and was escorted out of the room. Shocked at the sight of me, the nurses and doctors quickly wrapped me up. She read the distress on the faces of her medical team, and she knew something was very wrong.

Her doctor would not answer at first, but when she insisted on a response, he could offer my mother only a specialized medical term. Because of her nursing background, my mother recognized the term as the condition babies have when they are born with malformed or missing limbs. In the meantime, my stunned dad was outside, wondering whether he had seen what he thought he saw.

He sat stunned, momentarily unable to speak before his protective instincts kicked in. He rushed in to tell my mother before she saw me, but to his dismay he found her lying in bed, crying. The staff had already told her the news. They had offered to bring me to her but she refused to hold me and told them to take me away. The nurses were crying. The midwife was crying. And of course, I was crying! Later, as she slept, he visited me in the nursery.

He understood and respected her feelings. Instead of celebrating my birth, my parents and their whole church mourned. While this would be a major cause for rejoicing in any family, no one sent flowers to my mum when I was born. This hurt her and only deepened her despair. I was aware of none of this until the age of thirteen or so, when I began to question my parents about my birth and their initial reaction to my lack of limbs.

I told her I was sick of having no arms and legs. She shared my tears and said that she and my dad had come to understand that God had a plan for me and one day He would reveal it. My questions continued over time, sometimes with one parent, sometimes with both. In our initial discussions my mum and dad were very careful and protective in their responses.

As I grew older and pushed harder, they offered me deeper insights into their feelings and their fears because they knew I could handle it. I am involved with some missions projects more in praying and donations but after reading his stories of India and Africa, I am planning to go on a mission trip in the next couple of years. I try to meet needs in my local community but this book even focused a chapter on building better relationships so I can better meet needs for those around me.

In this book, the author refers a great deal to his Christian faith which I admire, and he quotes some Scriptures, however, in some places he paraphrases Bible verses without quoting them which disappointed me a little bit. He also refers to himself as an evangelist but in this book I did not feel he clearly led the reader to be able to embrace his faith or to challenge them to make a decision but rather just held Christianity as an option that was out there and whatever spiritual choice they made was fine.

This surprised me, but did not diminish my respect for the rest of the information given. I highly recommend reading this book for all audiences - everyone will be able to gain some insight and wisdom from his life and from the other lives he has connected with.

I would look forward to reading other books by this author in the future. I also hope that one day I can be in one of his audiences to hear him speak in person. Jan 13, Cami rated it it was ok Shelves: did-not-finish.

Nick Vujicic is an amazing person and he definitely has some great things to say. I am very impressed with his ability to find happiness and unfailing faith in Christ despite being born without limbs.

But the book itself was not what I expected and was too long for what he had to say. I have seen YouTube video clips of Nick doing amazing things, and the videos are very motivational. I didn't find anything in the book that couldn't be gleaned from watching one of the videos online. It was hard to Nick Vujicic is an amazing person and he definitely has some great things to say.

It was hard to trudge through this book because of all the pausing to throw in motivational cliches and generalities--like he was reading every motivational quote and meme off Pinterest that he could find. It was almost so cheery that it came across as fake.

I also got tired of hearing about all the people he has touched; it didn't start out as bragging but it also didn't let up, which kinda made him sound prideful.

I am a God-fearing, church-going Christian, but I was still overwhelmed with the preachy tone of the story. For me, it would have been better if it was edited down to just tell his story and let me draw my own conclusions about what lessons he can inspire in me. View all 5 comments.

Feb 08, Gill Collins rated it it was ok. I read this book with my book club. Indeed Nick is a man to admire. Born without limbs he never let that get in the way of having a great life. However this autobiography has no drama and the theme of "you might have a crappy life but with God's help and a great attitude you can have a great one. It makes for a great Man but a boring read I read this book with my book club.

It makes for a great Man but a boring read Apr 18, Sheila rated it it was amazing Shelves: humor , christian , relationships , spiritual , non-fiction , memoir. The cover picture, of a handsome happy young man, smiling, staring straight at the reader, certainly pulls you in. Nick Vujicic must surely have lived the ultimate in limited lives, carried from place to place, dressed by others, fed by others, trundled around like a doll… but he learned not only to be independent, but also how and when to choose dependence instead.

A lovely sense of humor pervades this book, almost inviting you to look more closely at the pictures—yes, it invited me; I searched for Nick on Youtube and Facebook too as soon as I finished reading! Nick says, with absolute honesty, there are others in the world with far more problems than he. He says, with absolute honesty, that we can change our lives, then he proves that too. He confesses to his teenage depression and hopelessness, and proves there really was a way through.

Do you need to change your attitudes? Do you need to set new goals? Do you need more people skills and just imagine how important such skills must be to someone without arms to defend himself or legs to flee!

Do you want some practical steps to overcoming your limits? Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review, and I count myself ridiculously lucky! If it could be made compulsory reading for every adult I believe the incidence of depression would also drop dramatically.

If Life Without Limits were mandatory reading for all new parents I believe both parents and children would benefit. Nick Vujicic is a fiercely determined but no ordinary motivational speaker. Nick is Australian and was born without limbs. He has no arms or legs but that has not stopped him from surfing, skateboarding, and scuba diving and many more physically activities.

In his final year of high school he was the school captain and went on to gain a degree in Financial Planning and Accounting. A devout Christian he enjoys life and he enjoys it to the full. His life has been painful at times but it is an inspiration. DS 2 Born without arms or legs, Nick Vujicic has found that with faith in God and a positive attitude he can live, as he puts it, a ridiculously good life. This is the inspirational story of how, while still a young man, Nick overcame extraordinary odds to live not only a relatively normal life, but one of mission, service and great generosity.

His cheerful, hopeful and faith-filled outlook on life is a continual challenge to all of us to make the very best of what God has given us. WN 3 I have never before read a book quite like this. It is truly amazing that someone born with no arms or legs can put such a positive outlook on life. God has certainly shone His glory through the life of Nick. The book gives many examples on how to live a positive life even with physical disabilities.

Nick is very honest about the struggles he had growing up. This is a great read. I would love to hear Nick speak in person some day. Feb 22, Anastasia rated it it was ok Shelves: memoirs-bio , christian , 2-stars , nonfiction.

I feel so bad for not liking this book. I feel like a person who kicks puppies and kittens. I'm happy that everything turned out good for Nick.

And I'm really happy that he and his family had such a positive attitude through all this. I did find this book very inspirational and I do recommend this for all pessimists because 'Life Without Limits' helps with how to think in more positive manner. Christianity was maybe the thing for me. Thing I didn't like. Like yes I'm sorry but it was just a flip I feel so bad for not liking this book. Like yes I'm sorry but it was just a flip of the universe, not the path God supposedly put Nick on.

Jun 15, Renjith R rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites , my-library , non-fiction. Life is all about attitudes Nick's life shows us a story of a person whose destiny is written by himself. All of us have shortcomings, it can be physical or mental.

A person who is physically healthy does not mean he is happy or his life is in cloud nine. It's our perspectives that defines Happiness. As Nick showed us, the physical limitations can be overcome by will power, if we try. I love this book not only it's inspirational but it has real LIFE in it. Rating: 5 stars I can't say enough about this book except read it and you will be inspired. For some time, I have experienced hearing Nick Vujicic's teachings and was intrigued. He not only talks the talk, he walks the walk--and without legs!

If that doesn't inspire, I don't know what would. This amazing motivational speaker, evangelist, advocate, author, musician, adventurer, brother, son, husband, and father of four beautiful children is someone we should all hear and meet. With a heart so big Rating: 5 stars I can't say enough about this book except read it and you will be inspired. With a heart so big it is a wonder he does not fall over all the time! All I can say to everyone is I dare you to check out his story.

Or his Youtube videos, especially the one where he is surfing! Enough said. What an amazing book! From a young age, I've suffered from a "woe is me" attitude, but Nick's story shows I have nothing about which to complain! Instead of getting frustrated when I fail, or when things go wrong, I should just learn from it and move on I especially loved hearing about his friendships with people such as Bethany Hamilton, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Joni Eareckson Tada; I grew up seeing and hearing about those people on television and elsewh What an amazing book!
