Chickens stop laying eggs for a variety of reasons. Hens may lay fewer eggs due to light, stress, poor nutrition, molt or age. As the days become shorter and temperatures drop, you may notice fewer eggs when you go out to the chicken coop.

Chickens, especially cold-tolerant breeds, can withstand winter temperatures without supplemental heat. The hens will adjust to the cold temperature, but if it is 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the coop and 0 degrees Fahrenheit in the run, birds will not be able to regulate their body temperature. Depending on the breed, chickens will have all of their feathers sometime after 4 to 5 weeks old and will be ready to be outside full time without a heat source.

Doing so will provide a firmer texture, but still similar to that of tofu. The flavor profile could overall be described as mild, and it is just the thought that turns most people off. This is because they are actually located on the inside of the rooster, along the spine.

As you can see, there is a lot more to the rooster than one might imagine. Many people like to let their chickens free roam or free-range. T here is nothing wrong with this, but it does open them up to more threats. Threats of coyotes and foxes as well as other predators. Well, not if the male is around. Roosters have big balls, literally and figuratively. They see mating and raising a family as their life goal and they take it very seriously as well.
