For a small town, we have bizarre traffic patterns that result from the way Southern towns were built: completely random and ad-hoc. You learn when to go out and when not to.

Otherwise, just breathe and go with the flow. It's not like DC traffic, after all. It's a very artsy town and very liberal in the middle of the rural south. If that's something you like then you'll love it here. One drawback is that the town itself is pretty small and is a classic college town with all of those pros and cons. But you're not far from Richmond and you're very close to the blue ridge and shenandoah valley as well so that's great if you like the outdoors.
