What type of name is sydney

2022.01.07 19:45

I knew a girl named Sydney who went to a high school with 'Sydney' in its name and who also lived in Sydney. Poor thing. Sydney is the name of a city - not for people! It's okay. Not particularly sophisticated sounding though. I know 4 little girls named Sydney, and one adult. It's cool, but enough already! Sydney Earle Chaplin , son of actor Charlie Chaplin.

The name of the English place from which the great Australian city took its name probably means south island in one of the Scandinavian languages -so named during the Viking invasions or it could be from the French Saint Denis. Ugly name for a girl! Or a boy! My name is Sydney and I am 14 years old. I like my name a lot -- it's not too common and not too unique. I've met about 5 Sydneys in my lifetime but I have noticed that it's becoming more popular.

When I was born there were very few Sydneys. Overall, I like my name. If you dislike it because it reminds you of a beautiful city, keep in mind that there are many cities out there and one of them most likely bears your name too. Gorgeous name for gorgeous guy! My best friend's name is Sydney, he's a boy. There is 2 Sydneys in my class, both girls. My cousin's name is Sydney, also a girl. All of there personalities are different, from a mean girl to a lovable girl.

This name is so much better than any Cindy. A polluted city with a high crime rate. I think this is an okay name for either a boy or a girl. I only know girls with this name though. And, they both have the nickname "Squid". I think it's cute and funny, but they should only be called Squid by friends and relatives, not go by it in school or work. I'm sorry I just can't like this name. It sounds more like a guys name.

This is actually a French name. I think Sydney is a lovely name, and to those of you who are saying it's stupid to name your kid after an Australian city - you know that it was used as a first name BEFORE it was used for the city, right? The city was named after a person. I think it is a pretty name, it reminds me of Australia! Sydney as a girl's name isn't a modern invention - it was a not entirely uncommon Victorian female name in England.

I like it, and the French version Sidonie as in the writer Colette. Sidonie is not a version of Sydney, it is a French name derived from the Latin 'Sidonia', but it's very superficially similar. Do parents suddenly become morons when they have to name their daughters? Sydney is a masculine name. It sounds completely idiotic on girls. I love the name SYdney. I like the spelling with a Y better than an I. I definitely prefer both Sidney and Sydney on a boy.

It's very handsome and manly. Plain awful. Why give your daughter the name of an Australian city? Sounds soo trashy. Though there are still worse versions such as Cydny or Cydnee. I love this cute name for a little girl.

This will be the name of my little daughter. I just hope it won't lose its popularity, because it's way adorable. I like this name for a girl, not for a guy. I don't like the name Sydney spelled with an i either. I have a friend named Sydney and I love to say and write her name. While it seems very masculine to me, Sydney has a better claim as a female name than one might thinkif I recall correctly, there is, surprisingly, a heroine of an 18th century novel by the name. I don't really think of Sydney as a girls name.

But it doesn't seem very masculine either. I guess it's more of a girls name to me because of my friend Sydney. I think the name fits her because she is very artsy and cute. This name is too masculine to be a female's name. I hate names that were originally boy names and then given to girls.

That's just plain tacky. Sydney is the name of Jarod's keeper and one of the psychiatrists at the Centre in the tv series The Pretender. My name is Sydney and I am a girl.

I live in a town of people and there are 3 girls named Sydney. My grandpa's name was Sidney. It is a horrible name for a boy because it sounds delicate and noble.

For this reason I dislike having being named Sydney because I am a rough-and-tumble farm girl. He was the most popular and visible icon of the punk movement. My daughter is named Sydney, I also have two boys who I would never dream of naming Sidney male spelling. That name was used for boys a lot around the 's, get with the times. It looks like I'm going to have to give that up though since all the "trendy" mothers are using it for daughters nowadays.

The fictional star of Alias is named Sydney Bristow. I LOVE this name and this spelling of it. My daughter's name is Sydney Catherine. I like this spelling the best for the name. My eldest daughter is Sydney. I think it is a beautiful name. My father in law hurt my feelings about her name before she was born, saying it sounded like an old man.

I like unique names, not weird, just unique and I think her name will stand out. I am a girl so I think that it is really cool having a name that a boy can have too.

People remember my name by the continent Sydney Australia and my sis gets mad because her name has nothing to remember it by so people only remember my name. This name is commonly used in the Jewish religion famalies. Sydney has never been a personal favorite of mine. When I hear the name Sydney I think boy. Sydney Pollack is an American actor, producer, and director. Sydney is the heroine in the "Scream" trilogy. The character in the Scream trilogy was spelt Sidney, not Sydney.

I agree that "Sidney" seems more like the masculine spelling and "Sydney" seems more like the feminine version. I do like this name. Crisp but not cold. I have a friend named Sydney she's female , and I think it's pretty.

And no, I do not think it would sound good for a guy at ALL. I think this is a very pretty name for a girl, but it has become too popular now. Although there are very few Sydney's in my age group, there are many children named this now.

My name is Sydney, and I would never change my name. I am constantly getting compliments on it, and guys tell me it's sexy for a girl. Sydney isn't just for guys.

Many girls are named Sydney, so watch what you say about the name. I like it. Sydney is a hideous name for a girl. The nickname Syd is sooo masculine. I'm a girl and my father picked my name. Whatever, your name is its most likely hideous also. Your most likely vocation: doctor, pharmacist, electronic engineer, teacher, banker, musician, artist, designer, consultant, nurse, book-keeper, secretary.
