I couldn't lose everything that I had gained over the past 11 years. There was an uncertainty there that I simply couldn't handle. But I'm a man of my word. And my word is my ironclad bond, and my vow to my wife had been to get sober, and that was what I was going to do. For the next nine years, I never missed a meeting.

Thankfully, in January , I had been sober for 24 years. That was the beginning of a whole new life for me. A life that — I finally realized — was full of choices. And one of those choices was not to drink, although it took me a while to figure that out.

But I was tempted every day. That's because I was surrounded by drinkers. My partner, John Grosso, and all the guys who worked for us were all boozers. I was the only guy who had decided to sober up, so there was constant pressure on me to drink. I would be on the job site with these guys, or in the truck, trying not to drink, and they'd be passing a bottle of whiskey or downing a case of beer.

It was a challenge every day. For a while, I thought I could deal with it. I thought I could be around them and not drink. They'd send me out for a case of beer and a bottle of Black Velvet at 2 P. And, like a dummy, I'd go get it for them. I didn't think that just because I had stopped drinking that I couldn't hang out with my drinking buddies.

About a year into AA, I was not drinking, but it was still a daily struggle. It was one of the hardest things I'd ever done not to grab hold of that bottle that was being passed around the truck and take a swig. Then a guy in AA told me something that saved my life.

So just worry about getting through today. I finally got it. I understood that I couldn't worry about being sober a month or a year or five years from now. It was a day-to-day struggle. And if you simply don't drink for today, then you're winning the battle. A new life When I stopped drinking, it opened up a whole new life for me — a life full of choices — and, for the first time ever, I was in charge.

It was also the end of the life I had been living. The life of drinking and drugs that had ruled my life and held me back professionally. And that meant the end of another partnership. That's because John Grosso had not only been my business partner, but he had also been my drinking buddy. After we'd bang out a job, we'd spend the afternoon on a bar stool somewhere, talking about all the great things we were going to do with the business.

Of course, we never did them. How much is Rick from OCC worth? How much is Rick Petko Worth? Rick Petko gained fame and a large chunk of his fortune when he became part of the reality TV show American Chopper. Are Paul Jr and Vinny still friends? How much is OCC choppers worth? Born on 30th August , the year motorcycle builder is known for his participation at Orange County Choppers.

Cody got his first bike when he was five and maintained the bikes with his father. What is Paul Teutul Senior worth? Is UCF rolling admission? One of his best-selling products is his chef knives, which in all seriousness, are out of this world!

Cody actually joined OCC while still in high school, no mean feat for a teenager. He was by far the youngest on the show, but boy did he learn quickly! After leaving the show, just like the other cast members, he decided to work contractually for Vinnie and Teutul Jr, which is what he was last spotted doing.

Cody prefers to keep a very low profile, but he has been working on a family and a family home. A decade after the show was canceled, premiering on August 20, , both Senior and Junior appeared on a 2-hour special on Discovery Go to put together a chopper for the famed American roofing and siding company, ABC Supply Company.

The pair had an 8-week deadline, so father and son set their differences aside to piece together their final chopper from the old OCC shop. However, their newly formed alliance got off to a bit of a rocky start. Paul Sr. Steve Magnante takes a closer look at this iconic muscle car to unravel where its stripe went.

Edwin grew up with a morbid fascination for everything that moved on wheels, and has since cashed in on his love of vehicles. No stranger to the courtroom at this point, Sr. According to Law , Derbyshire claims that instead of using his invested funds towards production of the show, Paul Sr. If those accusations are true, it sounds like Senior's far from his heyday of building gold-plated choppers for Donald Trump. Remember what we said back there about Paul Sr.

Well, go ahead and add "running a Ponzi scheme" to the list of things he's been accused of since his custom bike shop shot to fame. They claim, however, that Paul Sr.

The investors claim they were courted by Urbaneja, who furnished them with luxury accommodations during negotiations, and by Paul Sr. In response to the allegations, Urbaneja has said that the lawsuit has "no merit" and that he would be filing a motion to dismiss it. Founded in —after fulfilling his yearlong non-compete with Sr. Designs, based in Rock Tavern, New York. But early on, a tragic incident occurred at the new shop when a year-old man from the nearby town of Beacon fell through the roof and died.

The man was not employed by Paul Jr. Designs, but had been contracted to repair the roof by the building's owner. In a statement, Paul Jr. The same year Paul Jr. She can be seen here on the left , in a yellow jumpsuit, posing as a "McCuff Girl. One person, however, did not attend Paul and Rachael's wedding: as their battle in court over Jr. Tavantzis, who suffered from polio and was wheelchair-bound until his death in February , claimed that at a bike show in he pitched the idea of a handicap-accessible, three-wheel motorcycle to members of the shop.

In this clip from the American Chopper episode about the bike, Paul Sr. This resulted in the case being " dismissed without prejudice ," meaning Tavantzis would have the opportunity to revise his lawsuit and submit "an Amended Complaint" within 14 days.

As of this writing, it is unclear what has happened with the case after that initial dismissal, but if the guys from OCC really did steal a motorcycle idea from a man with polio—then profited from a television episode touting the idea and the benefits it will have for the handicapped—that's definitely dirty business.

OCC and American Chopper have always balanced any tension and screaming with comic relief, coming mostly from Mikey Teutul, the cheery, heavyset shop fixture and youngest Teutul son.
