How do toshiba tvs rate
It was working ok, except for the BlueTooth connection with my soundbar. I ignored that. Now, it only has vertical lines on the screen. NO picture. NO video. Sometimes the lines are the entire screen, sometimes only part of the screen. Either way, no picture, only lines. This was not a cheap TV!! I expect it to last longer than 30 months!!! This is my third and last Toshiba TV. The other 2 didn't last very long either maybe 3 or 4 years. Toshiba customer service and 1 year warranty are useless!!!
I will be buying another brand. For customers, for the environment, and so bad for Toshiba's reputation. Build electronics worth buying that last!! Get buying tips about TV Brands delivered to your inbox.
Thank you, you have successfully subscribed to our newsletter! Enjoy reading our tips and recommendations. My Toshiba TV is still under warranty. Everytime we call customer care, they apologize for the delay but no action is taken. The color is exuberant, the imagery is crisp, and it keeps up with the motion of sports games and other active showings. I've had it 2 years now and it's never had any issues and because of its clarity, everyone who visits, asks me about the TV.
I'd buy Toshiba TVs every time if they're going to be this good! Here are today's best deals on the inch UK You should also consider the slightly cheaper UL It's another Linux-based model, meaning it runs the Vidaa smart TV platform.
Music apps include Deezer and Amazon Music. Prefer Android TV? Toshiba's mid-range UA2B will likely be your best bet. The HD Ready model is only available in and inch sizes, making it ideal for playrooms and kitchens. If that's music to your ears, we'd suggest you start by looking at Toshiba's C, which comes in , , , and inch sizes. The native contrast, and black uniformity, lends the picture a realistic feel, and although none feature local dimming, the blacks are deep and rich enough not to miss it.
The whites, too, are bright, but natural, with none of the halo effect that some cheaper TVs suffer from. For fast action movies, sports and gaming the quick refresh rate eliminates any annoying judders or jerkiness, creating smooth flawless action.
Audio-wise, all three would benefit from a dedicated soundbar. That said, their audio performances are pretty decent, with low and mid ranges fully represented, and the high demonstrating an almost, but not quite, imperceptible, distortion at full volume.
Toshiba has aptly demonstrated their ability to play nicely with the big boys with these models and has caught up, and in some cases overtaken, the competition. The Toshiba 50LFU21 has a great response time, resulting in clear motion with only a short blur trail behind fast-moving objects. However, the slight overshoot and slow dark scene transitions can cause some motion artifacts like black smearing in dark scenes.
The backlight is flicker-free when it's set to maximum. Below maximum, it uses pulse width modulation to dim the backlight and always flickers at Hz. Since the flicker frequency isn't a multiple of 60, it can result in image duplication. The Amazon TV doesn't have an optional black frame insertion feature. The backlight always flickers at Hz when the brightness is set below maximum. Due to the TV's fast response time, lower frame rate content like movies can appear to stutter, and there's no way to reduce the stutter.
This TV can't remove judder from any source. Unfortunately, the Toshiba 50LFU21 doesn't support any variable refresh rate technology to reduce screen tearing when gaming. While we were able to measure the input lag at 4k 60Hz with chroma , the TV can't actually display chroma properly.
Input lag is also really high in 'PC' mode, so it's better to use the TV in 'Game' mode to get low input lag. If input lag is important to you, look into the LG UN This TV supports most common resolutions at 60Hz, but it can't display proper chroma at all, making it less ideal for use as a PC monitor. If you need the full bandwidth of HDMI 2.
The frequency response is okay. Dialogue sounds reasonably clear and it gets decently loud. However, it doesn't have a lot of bass and it produces some compression artifacts when playing at max volume. This TV has mediocre distortion performance.
The amount of distortion at moderate volume levels is reasonable, but it increases significantly when playing near max volume. That said, not everyone may hear it, and depends on the content. The Fire TV platform has a clean interface that's easy to use. It runs very smoothly, except for a bug that can sometimes cause the highlighted selection to skip when browsing, so instead of moving to the next item on the screen, it would jump to the one after.
Amazon's Fire TV app store has a large selection of streaming services and apps for download. The TV can play content directly from a USB thumb drive, but just like native apps like Netflix and YouTube, it uses interlaced scanning instead of a progressive scan.
This can result in some motion artifacts known as 'combing' in fast-moving scenes. The buttons are now all below the directional pad and there are two new buttons for the settings and to change inputs. It has a built-in mic for voice control, and you can ask it to change inputs, open apps, or search for specific content, but you can't change settings. As expected, the Amazon Alexa feature can also connect with and control other compatible devices.
There's a single button located on the lower left side of the TV. It's only available in North America, and the model codes are slightly different between the U. There's also a 32 inch model available 32LFU21 , but it has a p resolution and should perform differently from the 4k model we tested. If someone comes across a different type of panel or if their Toshiba 50LFU21 doesn't correspond to our review, let us know and we will update the review.
Note that some tests like the gray uniformity may vary between individual units. Compared to other TVs in its price range, it's one of the better options for watching TV shows because it has good reflection handling.
The Samsung has a much higher contrast ratio to deliver deep blacks, it has better screen uniformity and color accuracy, and its gradient handling is much better, so there's less banding. On the other hand, the Toshiba has faster response time, lower input lag, and it gets brighter in HDR. The Toshiba gets much brighter, has better black uniformity, slightly better reflection handling, and quicker response time.
However, the TCL has better gradient handling, displays chroma , and removes 24p judder from native sources. The 55 inch version of the model has an IPS-like panel with wider viewing angles than the model, which has a better contrast. However, it's possible some of the sizes of the model also have VA panels.
Other than that, the model is worse in a few ways because it doesn't get as bright and it has issues upscaling lower-resolution content, but it does a better job at displaying native 4k content. The TCL has a higher contrast ratio, better color accuracy, and lower input lag.
It also has better gradient handling and can display chroma properly. The Toshiba gets much brighter, though, and it has better reflection handling. The Hisense has better contrast, better out-of-the-box color accuracy, displays native 4k content perfectly, and has lower input lag.
However, the Toshiba gets brighter in HDR and has a quicker response time. The Toshiba gets brighter, has slightly better reflection handling, has a much quicker response time, and much lower input lag. However, the Hisense has much better gradient handling, displays native 4k content perfectly, and has a better contrast ratio. The has a higher contrast ratio, better black uniformity, and its response time is significantly faster. Input lag has improved a lot as well but color accuracy is worse, and although it doesn't get as bright in SDR, it gets brighter in HDR.
The LG has much better color accuracy, it has a lower input lag, it has better gradient handling, and it removes 24p judder. On the other side, the Toshiba handles reflections better, it gets slightly brighter, and it has a slightly quicker response time. The LG is generally better if you want to use the TV as a PC monitor, as it has wider viewing angles, better reflection handling, and better color accuracy.
Also, it has lower input lag and it can display proper chroma The Toshiba is better for watching movies due to its higher contrast ratio and better black uniformity. The Toshiba gets brighter, has a quicker response time, and has much lower input lag. The Hisense has a better contrast ratio and much better out-of-the-box accuracy, but this may vary between units. However, the TCL has wider viewing angles.
