The Lesser Antilles are several islands extending in an arc from Puerto Rico to the north-eastern coast of South America.

The islands located north of the Venezuelan coast or called the Leeward Antilles. Aruba is part of this island group together with Curacao and Bonaire and a few islands of Venezuela such as Margarita Island.

Cruise ships arrive weekly on Aruba and over flights from different cities from the United States, Canada, several countries in South America, the Netherlands, England and other Caribbean islands are being welcomed on a daily basis.

Non-stop flight times to Aruba are approximately 0. Aruba is an independent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and has a population of approximately , inhabitants. The official languages are Dutch and Papiamento, but English and Spanish are also very widely spoken. The island is 21 miles 33 km long, 6 miles 9 km wide and has an area of about 75 square miles square km. Aruba is mainly flat with a few hills and is renowned for its white sandy beaches.

Aruba is located south of the hurricane belt which means that it rarely rains for extended periods. The weather is tropical but not extreme, with a median and fairly constant temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit 28 degrees Celsius. It is important to mention that Aruba lies south of the general hurricane paths and usually only experiences fringe effects of nearby tropical weather. Nonetheless it is not unknown that tropical systems forms close by and do have their effects on the ABC islands Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao.

Trade winds cool the island, making lying in the sun on one of the many beaches much more tolerable although care should be taken since this is deceptive - the sun is strong, in particular between 11am and pm and the use of high-SPF sunscreens is strongly recommended especially for fairer-skinned people. If you are planning a trip to Aruba, you can count on plenty of sunshine.

However, there is a "rain" season in which sometimes heavy showers can surprise you. Check below if it's safe to go to the beach. The temperature on Aruba is measured in Celsius and is practically constant throughout the year. Think cactus and wild donkeys to go with your white sand beaches and palm trees—not rainforest. I highly recommend a day spent in Arikok National Park, whether on your own or on a jeep tour. I took a full-day jeep tour , which visited the lighthouse, chapel, ostrich farm, lots of amazing beaches, saw the wild donkeys, and ended with a dip in the Natural Pool.

Every time I go, I find new things to do and see even though the island is so tiny! Who am I? I have a demanding full-time career but still find ways to fit in tons of travel. My goal is to go everywhere, see everything, eat all the pastries, and soak up as much food, wine, culture, and amazing views as I can in this crazy life!
