Why is muscle confusion important
Many resources refer to muscle confusion as an alarm reaction. There are numerous ways to provide so-called muscle confusion beside high intensity training programs.
Ideally, you would employ a progressive systematic approach to achieve goals such as weight-loss, strength, or power gains. The term "muscle confusion" was born on the premise that your body will respond to different types of demands placed upon it. People who buy into the muscle confusion myth are changing their exercises all of the time.
Muscle growth can be much more scientific and consistent. Measuring your progress in a workout log shows you exactly how you performed the previous week, and then you can try to beat those numbers. Increase the stimulus, improve a little week by week or sometimes a lot , and you will continue to grow. And guess what? You run a target minute mile and do 10 push-ups every day. At first it might feel pretty challenging.
But over time, as your body becomes stronger and builds aerobic endurance, that same fitness feat starts to feel easier. But you keep running that same minute mile and doing those 10 push-ups.

The other side of the fitness-adaptation coin, progressive overload is all about systematically and consistently increasing the stimulus on your body to keep it adapting.
Most of the time, progressive overload takes the form of lifting heavier weights, doing more reps, running faster or longer, or swapping out an easy exercise for a more challenging variation of that same movement.
But you can also progress your workouts by reducing how long you rest between sets, moving more slowly through each rep, and making an exercise more complicated, Dr. For instance, trading out your seated shoulder presses for standing ones is a legit way to up stability requirements and core recruitment.
