Angel beats who is the programmer

2022.01.11 16:02

It's a long story, so I'm going to take a leaf out of the Wikia's book here with some minor edits. The Programmer's real name is unknown. But like Otonashi, he was never supposed to have entered the Afterlife, but somehow ended up there anyway. During his time in the Afterlife School, he fell in love with an unnamed girl who disappeared when her regret was fulfilled. Unwilling or unable to accept that, he decided to wait for her to return, which from the Afterlife School rules would require her to:.

Each failure to hit this chance would lead to 85 years of waiting. The above calculations do not consider that the majority of the death rate is actually from the elderly rather than from teenagers. As expected, the amount stunned Yuri, due to the massive time required to be spent waiting.

The AI explained that The Programmer lost his grip on sanity after waiting so long, and decided to create a program to turn himself into an NPC. As The Programmer felt that people who had resolved their sadness should not clutter the Afterlife School much like patients should be discharged when they are cured rather than staying in the hospital , he created a program that kept track of the amount of love in the Afterlife School world.

When the amount of love exceeded a certain amount, a "cleaning" program would be activated where NPCs would be changed into Shadows, which would in turn target humans and forcibly change them into NPCs, thus resetting the world into one where no humans existed.

The Programmer's details match those of Yuzuru Otonashi's with striking similarities. Let's not forget that alongside the original ending of Angel Beats, Key issued another epilogue, aptly titled "Another Epilogue". In this, the main focus is another person that's arrived in the Afterlife, and he is surrounded by quiet, obedient NPCs. After challenging the reality of the Afterlife School, he is talked to by the Student Council President,.

However, as. Otonashi heads back to the Student Council room, a girl can be heard saying, "There's a rumor that he's waiting for someone.

Otonashi is waiting for Kanade, and that this timestream somehow loops. Otonashi goes crazy waiting for Kanade, who has a infinitesimally small chance of reappearing in the Afterlife, but still, better than zero. He turns himself into an NPC to be able to withstand the long wait, and creates the AI, or the "AI" to be able to maintain the requirements of the Afterlife, not allowing love to manifest, possibly therefore saving future arrivals from the pain that he has been exposed to.

This may be why he creates Angelplayer , because he knows that if Kanade reappears, then she'll know how to use it, any maybe program it to move him back from his NPC state. The members of the SSS arrive after this, then, at the time of Episode 1, the timestream loops, causing. Forgetting everything that's happened to him, the events continue their course the same way they did before —. Tachibana Kanade was one of the first people to appear in the Afterlife World, and also the only person who is able to use Angelplayer without help.

Because she has this ability, she may be the one who programmed it. So when he died, his heart was still alive which is why his soul didn't move on and why he got amnesia. When kanade died, she was sent to the angel beats world, and since otonashis heart had finally died,he was sent there also.

This brings me to an interesting question, where I wonder if 'lost in translation' might apply. Many languages have multiple words for the word Love. The Greeks of old I believe had 4 such words. In english today many times Love is an overused word that loses some of its meaning, and I can't help but wonder if the Love Uzzuru had was not necessarily a romantic love, but a self sacrificing love, because that's what he did when he signed that organ card, that's what he did helping all those people even when he was so badly hurt I think.

I could be wrong, and I can't read Japanese, but boy, I'm thinking about maybe learning after a conversation like this one. I keep remembering the words from the Gospels of the New Testament. Now I might be off base here, that's okay, but the nature of language has me wondering if there's more here to the relationship that our own english is maybe not so good at getting across.

Raigeki Offline Joined: Jun Posts: Ive already made a theory that explains it, see this thread. He had amnesia. Have you had seen some old folks that had dementia and could not find their way home? My thinking is that he's somewhat like that. The montage was specific. Once it hit the last 5 they disappeared in sequence. The final 10 seconds more likely referenced reincarnation given the above montage, Yuri's initial water flea explaination, Otonashi telling Hinata to say hi to Yui for him, Hinata saying he would use all his luck this references the iine he said about the 6 billion people in episode 10 , etc.

Otonashi died and he did not have ALL of his memories, so his soul did not know whether it should rest in peace or go to the after life. He then landed in the after life due to believing that he had a terrible life.

When Naoi makes Otonashi remember, Otonashi continues staying in the after life to fight with the SSS since he now hates life. Story continues, and Otonashi regains all of his past due to hearing his own heartbeats from Kanade. This made him realize that he lived a happy life. So why didn't Otonashi disappear or rest in peace after he found that he does not regret his life? Theories 1. Otonashi probably fell in love with Kanade, and does not want to rest in peace until he confesses.

This is why Kanade told Otonashi to say "I love you" in the 13th episode, so both of them can have peace. Otonashi did not want to rest in peace until he explains everything to the SSS members and save him. OR Both 1 and 2. That explains his complete concern over her. But he apparently still resides in Purgatory as an NPC…or at least he did , as the total destruction of his system at the hands of Yurippe seems to have wiped the whole place clean of NPCs, which would naturally include him.

He took the form of a boy sitting in front of the controls to the system that ran through all those stolen computers. Was he truly an AI? This boy might have been a real person, so what does that make all his talk about obeying his programming and following the rules of the system that were set for him?

His girlfriend died by the end of the week. TK was then tortured to death, his death drawn out over the course of one month. The manga reveals that she died after being hit by a car while waiting at a bus stop. Yuri explained to Otonashi that the police arrived thirty minutes after her last sibling had been killed, but how the police knew about the murders is unclear.

The series does a lot in 13 episodes, but it never feels too rushed. The episode Angel Beats! Works and Aniplex. The five remaining residents of the afterlife hold a graduation ceremony before Naoi, Yuri, and Hinata are obliterated.
