Why is japanese music so good

2022.01.11 16:02

I kept noticing how flat and sad the American songs were juxtaposed to the energetic walls of sound from the Japanese bands. Thanks for writing this.

Spot on! I agree with some of what you say. Especially in Idol groups. To me, music is something that I enjoy. That appeals to some part of me. That stirs some emotion in me. But the factory-like efficiency of Japanese singers leave little room for originality. They largely copy from these guys. Not one Japanese singer is so memorable that generations will remember him or her.

In fact, the topics they sing about are just as or even more restricted than Western music. Love, Friendship, and sadness are the broad themes of Japanese music. Entertainment is a business but the best remembered entertainers are the ones who add a personal touch.

I dare you to name a single Japanese singer who particularly struck you as good and standing out from the throng. They have a very set pattern: friendship, nostalgia, love, heartbreak, rebellion. Their strength lies in clever repetition, creating variations of a single theme. They think very well well within a specific zone of focus but are not the best broad thinkers. Dude I can at least name one though technically not jpop but visual kei. And even though they play mostly metal they have lots of songs that have deeper stories that what you described.

It just shows that you have only listened to idol songs and thinked that all japanese music is manafactured when is not true is one the most artistic scenes when even niche genres can find success.

I like Japanese music because the lyrics themselves are cleaner than anything coming out in the West. Thank you so much! I love Jmusic. People bully me at school for listening to Jmusic. But ya know what? I really think that you are on too something with this.

I have heard so many Japanese songs and tracks that are much more memorable to me than western music where I live. I wish more people would give it a chance. Aaron is correct that sometimes separating performers from writers is good for music. Your email address will not be published. And theyre more funky and I like their instrumental stuff in animes, it's usually really moving.. But I can't listen to Japanese singers. Not knowing what is being said totally ruins any fun I may have listening to them.

Because you're a huge japanophile, perhaps? Have you ever heard a song and thought "holy shit, this is awesome! For me it's the beats, and diversity of the groups, bands, and singers. One moment you think your favorite group are rockers, and next thing you know they are trying something more pop or hip hop that I like also. Oh and Enthusiasm.

I can't generalize and say that Japanese music is really good, because there are so many different styles. The reason I like a lot of Japanese music rather than American music is because I love the type of music they have.
