The Panel need to be wholly satisfied that it meets the LSE standards of exam service provision and the integrity of the invigilation process. The Panel may require you to choose a different centre if they feel the one you have suggested is unacceptable.


The Panel's decision on suitability of centres is final and cannot be appealed. This charge covers the additional administration and outgoing courier costs associated with overseas arrangements. However, there may be exceptional cases where there is good cause to arrange an exam sitting overseas. The Panel will respond to your application within 15 working days. If your application is successful you will be informed and sent an Overseas Exam Registration form.


You should complete and return this form as quickly as possible and at least 10 working days before your first overseas exam. Applications to sit overseas for Summer Term will not be considered until after the course by course exam timetable has been published unless there are very specific reasons why you feel the Panel needs to make an early decision.


For details of when the exam timetable is published please see Exam Timetable. Complete an application form at the earliest opportunity and return it to the Student Services Centre or attach it to this enquiry form as soon as possible but no later than the above deadline.


If you need to apply after the deadline please see below. As part of your application you will need to provide official, original, evidence in English in support of your request.


Applications submitted without supportive evidence will not be considered. You will also need to submit a personal statement setting out the reasons for your request.

There are a number of stages that results have to go through before we're able to release them. For more information please see 'Results Processing Stages' below. In line with School policy, your results will be blocked if you have an outstanding debt to the School.


Please note that provisional results are only available for a limited period of approximately three weeks. Provisional results for exams taken in January will be released on 3 March We will email you as soon as your results are available to view.


Undergraduate students will receive provisional results on 8 July We will email you when your provisional results are available. Students on month taught Master's programmes will have the opportunity to view provisional marks in LSE for You between 2 August and 10 September Provisional marks will be released during this period as soon as they become available, which could be at any point in the results release window.


It is likely that provisional marks for courses taken in different academic departments will be released on different dates. The School does not allow dissertation marks to be released within the provisional results window.


Different timings may operate for the LLB. Details of the stages and time frames for November results will be published closer to the time.


You will not be able to access your results if you owe any fees to the School. If you have a debt please contact the Fees Office for clarification. Your home university will determine the subsequent accreditation of the academic work completed at LSE. You will receive an email about one week after results have been published showing your numerical marks. This is for your information only and does not constitute a transcript.


Please contact your home university for your LSE course result. Intermediate transcripts are available from the Student Services Centre immediately after the release of results.

For non-centrally scheduled assessments deferred at any time such as essays, coursework, dissertations etc. You can find the dates of all upcoming exam periods, and some information about assessment format, on the Exam Timetable webpage. For further information about the format of re-sit assessments, please contact the department responsible for the course. If you have failed or deferred one full unit or less: you will automatically progress into the next year of study.


If you have failed or deferred more than one full unit: you cannot normally automatically progress into your next year of study. The UG RDAP allows you to attempt to meet the progression requirements in time for the start of the next academic year. You will be re-entered provided that you have attempts remaining. All undergraduate students have a maximum of three attempts to pass a first year course unit and two attempts to pass second and third year course units.


Please see the LLB classification scheme for more information on resits. Coursework deadlines are set by departments. You should contact your department directly with any questions and to find out what you are required to re-submit. If you fail a course overall by failing or being absent from one or more components you must resit any failed components of that course during the UG RDAP.


The only difference between your first attempt or absence and the resit is that your overall mark for the course that the failed assessment belongs to will be capped at a Pass grade. Following the Undergraduate Resit and Deferral Assessment Period UG RDAP , if you are eligible for the award of a degree you will be issued with your certificate and official transcripts within approximately 3 weeks following the publication of ratified results.


After results have been released, Student Services will notify you if you are not eligible for the award of a degree or for progression to the next year of study.


The School will always award the degree as soon as a student becomes eligible according to the relevant classification scheme. This may mean even though you have failed a course at the first attempt, you may not be eligible to re-sit. If you choose to cancel resits you will not be provided with an opportunity to resit them again. You will not be permitted to cancel a resit as a result of a bad fail mark or an absence. You should contact the department responsible for the course directly with any questions and to find out what you are required to re-submit.


You may not be automatically re-entered to resit a failed assessment in a failed course until you have completed your programme. For example, if you receive a good fail mark and the course in which the fail occurs is not crucial to achieving an overall award.


You will only be automatically re-entered for deferred assessments, or to resit assessments where you have received a bad fail course mark or an absence mark. Where you are required to resit a failed assessment or attempt a deferred assessment this will normally take place during the January Resit and Deferred Assessment Period.


If you choose to cancel resits after you have completed your first year you would be provided with an opportunity to resit them again, if required, after you have completed your second year of study. Resit or deferred attempts at dissertations will normally be due for submission during the postgraduate Resit and Deferred Assessment Period.


Please contact your Department to confirm the exact date and resubmission requirements. You will be automatically entered for any deferred or failed assessments during the UG RDAP, but may opt out of taking these resit assessments if you wish, please contact the General Course Dean if you have any questions.
