What happens if an anemone died
Yea ill post a pic as soon as i can, the black stuff literally looks likes a thick layer of black jelly and just hangs out on top of my aragonite.. I just pulled the old bag out and replaced it with some fresh carbon so i think that will help a little. Carbon is the first line of defense against the toxins in the water.
Are u sure its not an algae outbreak what u have? Certainly a good pic will help. Tip: look for the "macro" function on your camera. The black jelly of doom didnt show was there right when i realized the anemone was torn up..
I was told it was toxins released from the anomone when it died.. Thanks guys for the tips, ill post pics later when i get off work, im sure there will be spots showing up by then. To answer the original question, "Why is my anemone hiding under my live rock?
In the wild many of them die if they attach in a spot not suitable. Why is my anemone inside out? It is common anemones to shrivel up and then reinflate especially right after they've been added to your tank. They are flushing wastes and acclimating to their new environment. If the new environment is unsatisfactory they will continue to do this.
Can clownfish hurt anemone? Clownfish can and do kill anemones. Usually because the clown is simply to large for the anemone. In your situation, the anemone was most likely withdrawn to discharge waste. Do sea anemones feel pain? Sea Anemones Found primarily in the Indo-Pacific, these anemones that look more like soft coral with feather-like branches.
How do you take care of anemones? Keep the anemones in at least gallons of saltwater. A larger aquarium can give a better environment to the anemones and will help them grow healthy. Best way to tell is if it smells bad. A dead anemone smells terrible! Is it attached to a rock?
Some anemones will stay closed up if they are not happy and it doesn't mean they are dying. Weather it be lighting, flow, temp, water quality, etc So it dismounted letting the current take it somewhere else.
Nems die slowly so it wont be something you notice over night. Give it a few days to acclimate and open back up. Things to look for that are a bad sign: Hides into the rock and does not come out.
Color loss. Wont except any food. It could be.. For now, if it is not attached set it in an area that it will not fall off and keep any circulation pumps off that may cause it to fall. Check in the morning if it has attached. You can pick it up and give it a sniff, if it is dieing, uummm well youll never forget the smell.
