I would say as long as the HDD activity lights are still flashing like mad, let it be. If it truly is hung, you can always do a hard reset and start over. No big deal. I rebooted and it seems to be working as I expected now. It looks like I can go home and come back to the office tomorrow to install Server R2. John - The OS. Sam had recommended that I use RAID 10 for the whole thing too, but I spent hours trying to trick the system into letting me do it and searching Google for tips. Any reason not to? Should take about an hour to 2 hours. I never made it to the office yesterday, so I can't say how long it takes.
You can also set the rebuild rate and other options which can help if you have a failed RAID. A database having a set of spindles, a file server's iscsi lun as a set of spindles, the hypervisor on a set of spindles.
I have about 13 GB hard drives on a Raid 2 system, how long will that be? I have been able to turn off the alarm after resetting the bios? Do you have to wait for the the initialization to finish before you can go ahead and start installing the Hypervisor?

So that equates to about 6 to 9 days for the drives to initialize. Sounds crazy to me. Anyway, it's been 11 days and the drives are still not ready. Could the initialization have timed out? There is no tool to monitor status. I'm wondering if I should let it continue or kill the process and start over.
