He will also begin using Shadow Flare. Sora should have his Defense as high as possible, through the use of equipment such as Ribbon and Cosmic Arts , or by applying Defense Boosts. Sephiroth always opens with Flash, so be prepared to use the "Block" Reaction Command, then use the opportunity to attack with Trinity Limit and Keyblade combos. If Sephiroth warps to use Cut Combo, be prepared to guard or use Reflect , then attack again. Sephiroth will not use the more difficult-to-block Aerial Cut Combo if Sora does not hit him with a combo finisher, so it is useful to forgo using finishers during the first phase unless proficient in using Reflect.
Curaga is the best way to heal during the first phase, and can be followed with Berserk Charge to deal lots of damage without Sephiroth breaking free. However, if Sora uses Berserk Charge in the air, Sephiroth will teleport away and perform Flash after several strings of combos, and if Sora uses it on the ground, Sephiroth will still teleport away, and may counterattack if Sora fails to connect with any of his hits.
After losing four and a half bars of his health bar, the battle will shift to its second phase as Sephiroth calls out, "Know your place.
In the second phase, Sephiroth will begin using Firaga Wall and Shadow Flare, often in conjunction with Flash, and his Cut Combo will have greater reach and speed. Reflect will deflect each of these attacks while damaging Sephiroth, and there is a small window of opportunity to attack Sephiroth directly as he finishes Firaga Wall.
Sephiroth will also start using his signature technique, Heartless Angel. As soon as he begins to say, "Descend Heartless Angel! If Sora fails to interrupt the technique, or is too far away to even try, immediately consume an Elixir to recover health, and prepare to deflect Sephiroth's followup attack. After losing nine and a half bars of health, the battle will shift to its final phase as Sephiroth gains an aura of darkness and calls out, "All shall be one with me.
In the final phase, Sephiroth is much faster, and will fly around low to the ground instead of walking. The best time to heal is after Sephiroth performs one of his basic techniques. Sephiroth will also start using Moving Cut and Meteor, which can be dodged or countered. If using Limit Form , be sure to use Limits frequently especially Sonic Rave to attack and heal, but unless proficient in using Guard, avoid using their final blows to prevent Sephiroth from retaliating.
Due to Sephiroth's speed, Strike Raid's invincibility frames may not always occur when needed, so be careful to time the attacks well. Oh no! The water! I'm in big trouble if I don't fetch it! Meta categories: Articles in need of improvement Articles with unconfirmed statements Articles with unsourced statements. All of his attacks are extremely powerful and easily has the potential to be capable of killing Sora even with maxed stats and his HP is also ridiculously large. He can be argued to be the most powerful of the Final Fantasy characters in the series, as although Cloud stalemates him, it is implied that he was holding back as he wasn't actually intent to kill him but rather to make him give in to the darkness and he easily fights off Tifa.
Although Sora is able to defeat him, in both times they fought, Sephiroth suffers little-to-no damage and is even able to calmly wipe at his shirt while acknowledging Sora's abilities, indicating he wasn't fighting to kill. An exceptional master swordsman, Sephiroth is capable of effortlessly wielding a long blade known as the Masamune with great skill and combining his teleportational abilities and great speed as well as flight to perform devastating combos both in the ground and mid-air.
He also can move at high speeds while slashing at all directions without fail and use a variation of Cloud's "Omnislash" called "Octaslash", where he flies around the arena slashing widely. He can empower himself with an aura of dark energy when weak, greatly increasing his speed and attack potency, as well as charge his blade with energy to make a single slash extend into numerous slashes.
Sephiroth also is capable of casting extremely powerful magical attacks that resemble his old Final Fantasy self, using "Stigma" to summon gigantic pillars of flames that can suck matter in, "Shadow Flares" to fire orbs of darkness, and his most powerful attack "Super Nova" calls down meteors that spin around him and then explode. His most noticeable technique is "Heartless Angel", an attack that drains Sora's MP and leaves Sora with 1 HP, if he is not interrupted in time; this is immediately followed by "Flash", which is fatal unless blocked via Reaction Command.
In Kingdom Hearts , Sephiroth is immune to almost all forms of magic, although magic-based attacks such as Ragnarok do in fact cause damage. In Kingdom Hearts II , all attack magic has no effect as well. The only magic based moves that will affect him are Magnega , the aftershock of Reflega , and the magic combo of Trinity Limit. Once revered as a great hero, his discovery of the mysteries surrounding his origins and nature drove him to insanity.
Sephiroth then aspired to become a supreme being and attain godhood. The few attacks he does not know in the Final Fantasy series, such as "Meteor" and "Flash", are still named for attacks in the series. Octaslash was not given an official name until Crisis Core. One-Winged Angel is the name of Sephiroth's theme in the Kingdom Hearts series and most of his appearances throughout the Final Fantasy series.
As a result to this allution, Sephiroth was designed for Kingdom Hearts with a black wing emerging from his right shoulder, a trait that was latter carried to the Compillation of Final Fantasy VII. The song is one of the most recognized tracks in the Final Fantasy series, unseating Sephiroth's original theme, "Those Chosen by the Planet. The remixes of the theme feature much shorter intros, leading almost immediately into the Latin vocals, and the vocals as a whole are more prominent than in the original version.

If successful, this will leave Sephiroth open for your first string of hits. Do a couple of combos, and then get back a bit.
If he manages to get in a hit, retaliate with. Be sure to make aware of his sword at all times. This can easily wipe out several HP bars before it is done. I usually go for this attack, right after the reaction command deflect. Having Berserk Charge is key to several more fall back hits with this, but he will eventually be able to deflect the attack. The one thing you must remember about Trinity is it will not have a reaction command. You will have to manually execute it. I know I have to input a command?!?! But that is so old school!!! The second he warps away from the painful end of your keyblade, be sure to heal, or his next attack might kill you.
Usually the next attack will be the dark energy balls "Give into the darkness" which will give you an extra split moment to heal, but he might also slash at you. You synthesize it, but you must have the ultimate recipe which is located in twilight town next to the pod Donald was sleeping in.

Sephiroth will knock you in the air and do a really annoying midair combo on you. To avoid this, the moment he knocks you in the air, do an aerial recovery and then attack blindly. This will deflect his blow and allow you to counter with your own midair combo!
You don't need all your form abilities, but they help stop "Heartless Angel" and to dodge the meteor attack. Having the Ultima Weapon is great but its nice to use explosion on does a lot of damage. In the case that you can't stop Heartless Angel, and you block his omnicutter attack, run away and use an Elixir.
If you keep attacking him, the moment your combo ends, he will slash you and kill you.
