How long do muddy buddies stay good for

2022.01.13 00:01

Tastes really good. I used Costco pure vanilla extract and the chocolate seized , does this ever happen to anyone. So bizarre! So yummy and so easy to make! Can I freeze after making this.

Storage instructions are listed under the directions in the recipe card! You can store it up to 1 month in the freezer. Turned out great. So easy. Will do again. Simply Delicious! So glad I happened on this recipe. And making a huge batch to take on our mountain cabin family vacation in January. It was delicious!! So much easier to coat all the pieces, and always yes to easy clean up!! Delish…I give. Turned out just right. Oh dear. I know I did something wrong — my powdered sugar did NOT stick to the coated cereal.

I have none left! Is there a fix?? It tastes…ok…. Thanks for any suggestions! Hi Kim! Hmmm sounds like your chocolate mixture hardened? Then try tossing it with more powdered sugar?? Did you add the whole 2 pound bag of powdered sugar? Hi thanks for checking back! Definitely could be because you used the stove, who knows! I always recommend following the directions microwave included for the best results. If I use peppermint chips should I still use peanut butter. Hi Mary! You could try replacing the peanut butter with processed cashew butter not an all natural variety — I think Jiff makes a creamy cashew butter!

I was missing out as a child. Literally just made this recipe and it is delicious. Awesome little morsels! Very good and easy. Made this recipe for the first time. I love it! Merry Christmas! There IS actually a substitute for the powdered sugar! You get that separation and flavor with an additional punch of nutrition. I would recommend whey protein just because it marries well with the other ingredients. Oh, interesting! Thanks for the suggestion! That sounds like a great way to healthify this recipe a little bit.

I like to put in large brown grocery bag and shake it, add powdered sugar and shake some more…gently. Open and tear to open bag completely and cool right into opened bag. Put in baggies once cooled completely. Fantastic recipe. Ooo yum! Delicious recipe. Easy and fun to make. Great advice about powdered sugar! This is great! Helps it not break to pieces and mixes well. My late Grandma used to make this every Christmas.

Thankfully I found her recipe here! This recipe is the best. I like that I can use up a whole bag of chips and a whole box of cereal at one time. So much better!! Love the way you wrote this recipe. Yum yum yum. I like you two. It is simple! How many cups for 12 oz of choc chips? I bought a large bag and only need 12 oz for recipe. Loved it. Soooo good!! Good work! My problem…he wants it for Christmas.

I know in previous years I have made him double batches that has lasted him about 3 weeks from date made with no complaints. But I would think you could make it, and freeze it. Put the puppy chow in the package, straight from the freezer. Put around it anything that could insulate it and keep it cold. Hopefully they will take long enough to warm up that it gets to him fresh and ready to eat.

I hope this helps. And thank you to your grandson for his service! I made this particular recipe the very first time I made puppy chow. And about half a bag of powdered sugar.

Empty bowls every time I take it for a get together! Sooo easy and delicious! This would be delicious with roasted almonds and honey nut cheerios. Better than i remember! Super easy!! Fam loved it! Easy to make! Fun to eat!!

We were tempted to not share with our 6 babies ;-. Made this recipe over the past weekend and it was absolutely amazing!!! I was trying to replicate a bakery that makes it near me and I have to say that it was just as good if not better!

I also used a couple tupperware containers to coat the puppy chow with powdered sugar, just pour in and add the sugar and shake until you get the desired coverage. Thanks so much for this amazing recipe! I will be adding this one to my cook book:. Came out perfect! Measurements make more sense than others thats for sure lol also the perfect amount of chocolate and peanut butter! Best muddy buddy recipe out there. I hated wasting the remaining cereal.

This ones perfect. Made this recipe tonight, it taste awesome. I was so happy that I came across your recipe, Thank you so much for posting it.

The first time I made them per the recipe and they were amazing! Yesterday I made them again but changed it up a little by using a box of regular Rice Chex and a box of the Chocolate Chex. I also used a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips and a bag of white chocolate chips. Thanks for sharing!!! Only used half a bag of powdered sugar and it came out perfect. It was great but our family shakes up the chow with powdered sugar in a bag!!

To cut the calories , I added chow mein noodles, raisins, peanuts dried cherries cut in small pieces, and pretzels. I did one batch where I put everything in the chocolate but the raisins and cherries. And I did another where I put in my extra ingredients after the powdered sugared regular puppy chow. My husband does not like super sweet things except me LOL. So I added my extras plus his I gtta have. Seasame sticks. I must say children like the original the best! Salted butter? Salted or unsalted butter?

Verry Yummy! I love the personality shown in this recipe hahaha. I kind of always have used extra peanut butter and chocolate chips. I also think they are super good coming out of the fridge. They are good either way but cold is my favorite! Thanks for sharing! Thanks Sabrina! I love it chilled as well! The kids have a hard time waiting so we have a small portion each while warm and then some more once chilled after supper! I always make 2 batches, one with A bag of semi sweet chocolate chips and a whole cup of peanut butter, and one with a whole bag of White chocolate chips and a cup of peanut butter!

I always hated it when people would make puppy chow with Life cereal or something, then barely covered it with powdered sugar at all, the texture was never right and i was always disappointed.

Very good, nice peanut buttery taste, but waaaayyyyy too much confectioners sugar. It made it too sweet, no flavor enhancer, just sweet. I put it in a colander, gave it a little gentle shake which removed a lot of the 10x, and it was great. The next time I made this I added a couple of heaping teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder to the coating sugar, mixed it really, really well, and then used it one he chow. Excellent, it cut the sugaryness, added a hint of cocoa, and was really yummy.

Thanks for the recipe. Delicious rendition on an old favorite! Enjoyed your recipe story. I did decrease the powdered sugar, but as you said — preferences. Awesome sauce! I substituted Peanut butter Chex for 5 cups and Chocolate chex for 5 cups and it was fabulous!!! Thanks for the easy to follow directions!! Well, we have our own little pitch about this dessert but we try new things so we tried this recipe and we also added green and red sprinkles for the christmas holiday and the kids named it reindeer chow and ooooooooooohhhh was it the best dessert that they have yet to make..

Aww so cute!! Not bad but way too much sugar. The sugar stopped sticking and just sat at bottom of the bowl. One lb. Delicious, SO easy to make. Easy and not to time consuming plus it taste great. I never thought of this before, but I bet my 4 year old would be excited to leave it out for the reindeer on Christmas eve!

After I made the puppy chow I thought that this would be cute to give it out to friends and family. So, I whipped up some cute tags and applied them to the jars using modpodge. I decided that they are too cute to keep to myself, so I have them available for you to download below in all three of these designs!

In its simplest terms, you are microwaving peanut butter and chocolate chips together until it is smooth and creamy. Then, pour the mixture over the cereal until it is evenly covered throughout. Finally, you add the powdered sugar and mix until it is well covered.

Switch milk chocolate with white chocolate and add in some pastel-colored chocolate candies and you have an Easter-ready snack in a bowl. With small additions and changes, you can adapt this recipe for any situation!

Find the exact measurements in the recipe card below. Remember that this recipe is easily doubled if you need even MORE!! In a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl, add your chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.

Pour the chocolate mixture into the bowl with the cereal and stir until the cereal is evenly coated. Add the covered cereal to the bag with powdered sugar. Zip the top tightly and shake until the cereal is completely covered with powdered sugar. Pour the cereal onto a large cookie sheet to dry. If you store it in an airtight container on the counter, you can expect it to last up to 4 days, although the older it gets, the staler it may become.

You can extend the life expectancy of this puppy chow by a few days by placing it in the fridge, where it could survive up to 1 week. You can also choose to freeze it for longer storage. You can freeze puppy chow for up to 3 months in the freezer. Dinner, then Dessert, Inc.

I would suggest using the more expensive higher quality chis. In mine, after shaking the Puppy Chow up in the powdered sugar you dump it out onto parchment paper in a thin layer to let it dry.
