The point at which they often cracked was when someone tried to remove the barrel for building a rifle and that was when it happened. Give it a detailed cleaning and inspection and go from there, no sense in jumping the gun. No pun intended! But i appreciate all of the input i am getting from you guys! Feb 14, 0 64 VA. The 03A3's seem to have a longer buttstock. Mine does and its more comfortable for me to shoot. No officers around to tell me I can't use the rounds in the magazine and no Germans crossing no man's land to get to me either. Everyone likes what they like. Yeah, I always got better accuracy from my 03A4 with grain Sierra match bullets and IMR powder a compressed load with good velocity but not high pressures.

Jun 19, 0 54 Texas. Remington receiver, Eddystone bolt, and Winchester wood. Won the match by one point, the hoola-hoop size rear sight makes sight alignment interesting to say the least. Neat old warhorse but I'll take the 03A3 anyday. As far as the cracked receiver, there is no way in hell I would consider firing the rifle repair or not! We have listed all the Eddystone model numbers we could find and shown which have manuals that can be downloaded, those which are available on request and those for which we would like an electronic copy of the manual.
The manuals are available to download free of charge on the basis that they are not reproduced for gain or sold to any other party — we would ask users to respect this.
The list is in four parts, first the pre-war sets, then the post war numerical sets ie , X, etc, then we have the EC, EB, EP sets, finally we list the accessories for which manuals are not generally available. Wood is sound but does show normal wear. Metal may show normal wear and may exhibit some rust or pitting. Rifle has been head spaced and test fired. Barrel will be dark and may have some rust or pitting and little rifling. Wood may have minor cracks, dings, dents, gouges. The sights were excellent for combat , but lacking for target shooting ,--large apperature--no windage adj.
I guess this shows that the Ord Dept. The was also a clumsy firearm due to its long barrel. So--what would I have done if I was in charge?
I would have made the the official US rifle. The would have been the substitue rifle and I would have stopped production. I would have ordered all rifles to be modified to match your rifle, then the would have been as handy as the For match shooting I would have modified the rear sight with a smaller apperature and a windage adj , like the TSMG.
This would have been a superior rifle , equal to any bolt rifle in WW2. Well, sadly, I wasn't in charge, so here we are. Nice rifle. Jim C. Posted 26 November - PM Just shot my winchester in a small 4 person match and won with a 88 out of and one X. The rifle softens the kick out of the over my 03 and is prefered. My 03A3 2 groove is a tad more accurate and fully adjustable rear sight but kicks more.
