I was on my computer yesterday and a program I had installed required. So I downloaded it and then installed and to complete it required a restart. After doing this my computer would freeze at the windows logo screen and stay like this, eventually after loads of rebooting after half an hour it sat on a black screen only showing the mouse.
I am not sure whether. I already have. I have ran windows in safe mode and it keeps stopping at 'avgidsha. Tried starting windows using the Last known working configuration and this still causes it to freeze at the windows logo. I have put the windows 7 disc installation disc in and tried to repair my drive but it says it detects no errors, I then went on the try system restore which shows two restore points, one shown net framework 4 as the last installed programs, I do not know if this has a significance or not and the other is just a previous restore point.
When I try either an error appears saying the system restore cannot go ahead, any ideas? My computer has froze on this screen many times before and the windows 7 disc repair usually fixes it but I have had to do a fresh install of windows on a new partition, I want to this to be my last resort, I'm fed up of having to re install all my programs and move all my files over again.
