Thread starter mazi Start date Dec 2, Last edited: Dec 3, MisterSpo Koopa Founder. I'm only starting the game at the weekend. Edge is always all over the place that's why I don't base my game purchases purely on reviews. Really enjoying the game so far.. I'm sorry Alan Wake getting a 7 and SMG2 getting a 10 is blatent disregard for talent.

I think EDGE purposely try to be harder on games just to stand out. The data from past reviews does clearly indicate that EDGE favours the and is biased towards its games. I'm surprised they didn't give Alan Wake higher but I suppose they have to make their fanboyism look less obvious.

Even though Alan Wake didn't live up to the hype, it is still a great game. I know people think that it should have been better seeing as it was in development for so long. However, it is very hard for any game developer to know how their game will be received. Alan Wake is a bold new direction for a video game so it is hard to know how gamers will respond to something that is different.

Heavy Rain was similar in that regard but was still a great game. When a game is attempting something different, it doesn't matter how many years of development there are because until gamers get their hands on it, it is impossible to predict how it will be received.

If AW had technical issues or was under-polished, then that would be a very poor reflection on Remedy given the time they spent developing it but the game does not suffer from technical issues but from repetition and linearity. I prefer Games Master mag better anyway. I just read a great article in the pages of the newly-resurrected EGM mag.

I do not understand how everyone acts like a number constitutes the bottom-line of every game's look, feel, and play style. As if a game scored an 8 instead of a 9 that that factor alone would determine whether you rent or buy it.

Absolutely ridiculous! After all these scores are given out by people, gamers just like you and I that are opinionated to what they personally like and dislike in their games. Reviews serve as a powerful guideline for sure but let's not elevate them to a god-like status. Same goes for metacritic, a powerful guideline, sure, but don't let it go to your head. With that said, it appears that Split-Second may be a worthy title for those seeking an alternative to the Burnout series.

All those complaining about the rating of Alan Wake have you played the game yourself? Or you just assume the game is so good it deserves a higher score? I am currently actually following a walkthrough of it on YouTube. And unless the controls realy suck which I can't judge by just watching , this game looks like a solid 9 to me 5 hours in. Must admit that this game is right up my alley though, as Heavy Rain was aswell.

I have seen it all now!!! The story is too old to be commented. Valay d ago Weird that they didn't publish the actual Sin and Punishment 2 review in the latest magazine since that's out in Europe now. Agree 4 Disagree 0. Agree 2 Disagree 0.
