Micro bluetooth adapter for windows 8

When I plug in the adapter it makes the tone that something has been plugged into that USB port and then nothing happens past that. The device shows up nowhere on my computer.
The control panel shows no record of the device being plugged in. I am running windowns 8. When I go to download the drivers from broadcom the installer can't find the device. The blue light comes on when I plug in the addapter and I have even bought a new one of the same make and model only to have the same thing happen when I plug it in, so I know the adapter isn't broken.
I have no problems with the adapter on my windows 7 laptop. But I do have a similar problem with the adapter when I use it on another PC that is running windows 8. Is there something I need to download for windows 8.
Oh; and I also know the USB port is not the issue because I have tried the adapter in all of the other ports and it still doesn't work while other USB devices work just fine. I'm sorry for the long delay. It's just a lot of information pointing in multiple directions. Windows 8 should work just the same as Windows 7. The adapter does work on Windows 8. We have tested it on multiple Windows 8 and 8.
Are you sure that Windows is not installing their Bluetooth drivers when you plug in the adapter? When I plug in the adapter nothing happens. The adapter does not appear in my list of devices and no drivers are installed. To give you some more info I have a Windows 8. My computer was manufactured by HP it's a Envy Phoenix ht. I bought it with this network card.
I have noticed that my computer lacks any kind of Bluetooth settings. If I wanted to go into my devices and settings and change anything related to Bluetooth I can't because there is no Bluetooth section. If there are no Bluetooth settings to be found then that would tell me that I have no drivers for it at all.
I am guessing that this is why my computer can't see your adapter. Everywhere I go they point me to broadcom. However when I try to download any broadcom drivers for Bluetooth it scans my system for Bluetooth hardware. If it doesn't see any hardware it will not install any drivers.
I will try to make this very clear and lay out the problem as I understand it right now. I believe broadcom has the drivers I need, but the broadcom installers that I download from their site require some kind of Bluetooth hardware to be detectable before it will install anything on my computer. You can see the dilemma I hope. I can never get the driver updates because broadcom can't see the adapter.
I would need the basic files for Bluetooth drivers that broadcom is supposed to have however it will never install the base drivers for Bluetooth because I have no hardware that is Bluetooth related except the adapter that my computer can not detect. How is broadcom supposed to detect the adapter if it wont even install the software that would allow the communication between the adapter and my computer to occur.
I initially talked on the phone with Microsoft support about this and they said that it was an HP problem because I don't have any drivers for Bluetooth. So I talked with HP and they said that I would need hardware for the drivers to be installed on. This makes no sense to me. I thought the whole point of this adapter was to allow me to connect Bluetooth devices to a computer that has no pre-installed Bluetooth hardware.
If I had pre-installed Bluetooth hardware why would I need this adapter. So what I am asking you is; where can I get the drivers that I need to use your adapter? Nobody else seems to know. Hello KingOmni, Given all that, it sounds like that particular adapter is most likely the issue.
If you return it to Best Buy they should replace it with a working one. Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Thanks Barry. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question Report abuse.
