This seems to be similar to the Steam Workshop on Steam Community, which allows players to create content for supported games. The Microsoft-Team Dakota 'Project Spark' gives players easy access to a 'developer-grade toolset' for creating playable levels based on their imagination and innovativeness.

Microsoft in December released its first major system update for the Xbox One, which brought fixes for issues with SmartGlass, multiplayer, notifications, connectivity and dashboard. It also brought improvements to the Xbox One's TV, as well as system and content update services.

Microsoft Xbox One receives major update that includes Project Spark. Get to your friends list faster. The friends list is now front and center on the homepage of the Friends app. Click the Social tile on Home, or say "Xbox, go to Friends" to see who's online and what they're up to.

From there you can quickly send messages and get into a party. Party chat on by default. When you party up, chat audio is turned on by default.

Chat with friends playing different games. Party chat is now separated from people playing your game, so you can chat with your friends who are online or you can chat with everyone playing the game. Similar to Xbox titles, when you're inside a game's menu you have a simpler and quicker way to set up your multiplayer battles. Selecting "Invite friends" lets you invite friends to your game and party.

If you're wondering just how much you can do with the game, the answer seems to be pretty much anything and everything. Members of the dev team showed TechRadar the Spark ropes and so far, it's chock-full of mini games ranging from platformers, puzzlers, RPGs and way more, plus even simple but beautifully detailed levels showing off what Project Spark's tools are capable of.

The ability to "remix" or take one or multiple aspects of a person's creation to use in your own and vice versa allows for even more creative freedom.

The previous beta participants will also have access to the Xbox One version as well; the game is cross-platform through the cloud, meaning you can create on your console and continue on a Windows 8. To start playing and creating, you can sign up on the Project Spark site. The official release date for the game has not been set yet, though it will likely come out some time this year.
