Dell printer driver j740

J Vista Drivers. Under the driver downloads section it only says that there is currently no Vista driver available- but it does not provide an estimate of when it will be available or state whether or not there will ever be a vista driver. Customer support was unable to help me in any way, as it always seems that customer support only has available to them the same resources that the customer does- they literally go on the dell website and relay to me the exact same information anyone with an internet connection can find.

From looking around, it seems that most people have the impression that dell is not planning on providing vista drivers. I find this very hard to believe, considering Lexmark makes this printer for Dell, and the Lexmark equivalent the z7xx series has had Vista drivers for months. It's possible that changing the printer name to Lexmark z would allow it to work via Lexmark drivers, but I would prefer that Dell would just support the printer as they should.

I think there's some industry standard minimum for years to support a printer beyond it's initial release like 7 , and the J is only about yrs old.

My printer is attached to my desktop upstairs which has a router. So maybe the printer driver should be loaded on the desktop instead of the new laptop. When I try to print from new laptop, it seems to be finding the location but the meassage I get is a printer driver for Windows 7 needs to be downloaded.
