Design We've knocked Samsung's excessively glossy designs in the past, but we're suckers for the BD-P's look. The front faceplate is still glossy black, but it's completely flat and doesn't have a bezel, unlike its predecessor, the BD-P In our opinion, the BD-P is the most stylish Blu-ray player we've seen. Samsung fans will recognize the same remote the company has packaged with most of its products for the last couple years.

There are playback controls just north of the center of the remote, and there's some slight differentiation--including Braille-like nubs--that make it possible to navigate in the dark. Overall, it's a good remote, but we'd really like to see Samsung give it an update since it's been unchanged for so long and there's still room for improvement.

They're easy enough to navigate, and we had no issues with routine tasks like changing the output resolution or audio output format. Profile 2. We haven't been impressed with BD-Live features so far, but there have been some promising early attempts, such as director Christopher Nolan's live chat on The Dark Knight.

Soundtrack support is pretty good, although not flawless. While the lack of DTS-HD Master Audio decoding is annoying, we wouldn't stress about it too much--even the experts have trouble hearing the differences between soundtrack formats in ideal environments.

All soundtrack formats are supported in bit stream output mode. Connectivity is standard. The most important connection is the HDMI output, which is capable of carrying both high-def video signals up to p and high-resolution audio. For analog high-definition video, there's also a component video output, but note that Blu-ray Discs are limited to i over component and DVDs to p. There's also a composite video output but no S-Video , and of course it's limited to standard definition.

For audio, there's the aforementioned HDMI output, plus an optical digital audio output. There's also an Ethernet port, which can be used for updating the firmware and to stream BD-Live content content. We started off looking at test patterns, with all three players connected to the LG 50PG60 , with each input set to its THX picture mode. The BD-P got off to a bad start, failing the Video Resolution Loss Test, as certain parts of the screen had a strobelike appearance and the overall image appeared unstable.

Just been looking on the net. It says CD only, and there is a way to do it USB, i've only got a usb hard drive handy and it's saying there's an error doing it that way.

Hi, I formatted my memory stick in the samsung and i copied the file back on to it, unzipped it and now I get this message - "error is detected in the update data. I've tried it again a lot of times. Could you try another DVD to see if it works? It's quite ridiculous, the thing is I bought it from Amazon, and I know it will be in warranty but it's a pain for me to ship it back to them for it to take 3 weeks to actually sort it out hopefully I can do something. Hopefully they'll send one out straight away. What tel number did you call for Samsung? I updated to the latest firmware a month or so ago only to find that the BD-P will not play Wall-E disc 1 or disc2 when previousl to this update it played disc1 but not disc 2.

The trick seemed to be not holding the repeat key too long. I used the R4 code from below. In this case Repeat Now it to me about 20 tries to get this to work, It needed to be done without delay. This hack appears to only work for region 4 players. No one else has been able to use this hack and there has been a lot of people trying. I also have this player, region 2. I'm bummed, cuz I bought the player based on this entry regarding the hack.

I didn't expect it would work so I pressed '9' like crazy and I recognized '9' already appeared. I don't know how many times I pressed maybe 10 times? It doesn't matter because I would never try it again.
