Hello, when I download the file Avast claims there is a virus attached, could it be that this is now no longer safe to use? According to AV software, tools like this have never been safe to use for the decades they have been around. When you use hacking and cracking tools which this is you have to accept they will produce false positives in security software.
The question is Who should I trust? You have to trust your knowledge, your common sense, and your own judgment. For instance, the download link goes to Softpedia who also say the same as us about false positives. Or do you not trust what they say either?
Is 14 years not enough time for someone to find out if it does anything malicious? Hacking and cracking tools produce false detections in security software, always have, and always will. The WGA has gone. Many many thanks to u. Really this method is very easy and helpful. Before i try so many ideas but no one could solve my problems.
It solve my problem now. So this is the best among all others. The WGA is gone, many thanks. A: The pilot version of this software periodically contacts Microsoft after validation. The software checks whether a newer settings file is available and downloads the file if one is found. The settings file gives Microsoft the ability to update how often reminders are displayed and to disable the program if necessary during the test period. Unlike validation, which sends system information to Microsoft, this operation is limited to the download of the new settings file.
No additional information is sent to Microsoft. Let me make the distinction between the Genuine Advantage validation and the Genuine Advantage notification. The notification is what people are objecting to -- being bugged with notifications and the frequent phoning home. If you want to disable this behavior, there are a number of ways to accomplish that.
I didn't remove it on my machines, but I did disable it so I'm no longer bothered by it. Initially I was blocking it with my firewall. You can see here that Outpost Pro asked for permission each time to allow wgatray. Each time I got this warning, I chose to block it. But I found a better long term solution that's easy and doesn't have any harmful repercussions.
I downloaded and ran Autoruns from SysInternals, clicked on the Winlogon tab, and unchecked WgaLogon as seen in this screenshot. Apologies for the small image but the space is limited.
You can click here for a larger view. Now WGAtray. It can be re-enabled simply by checking the adjacent box. I like this method because you, the user, are in complete control. I keep getting the nag popup that my office is not genuine. I ran the software and it told me WGA is jot active on my system. Seems strange that it's "not active" yet I get the nag popup saying my office is not genuine Well this is old there are several newer versions of Micricraps and this tool.

RemoveWGA enables you to remove the Microsoft 'Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications' tool, which is calling home and connect to Microsoft servers every time you boot pilot version , or every two weeks current release. Once the WGA Notification tool has checked your OS and has confirmed you had a legit copy, there is no decent point or reason to check it again and again every boot.
Moreover, connecting to Microsoft brings security issue for corporate networks, and privacy issues for everyone.
