You'd need to have a license key to activate it though and it's "tricky" to download it, extract the contents, and rename the appropriate files to vhd if starting out from scratch. Google is your friend. But, if you moved the vhd file from an already installed and activated XP mode installation as it sounds like you have now in your Win 7 Pro installation , I suspect it would still work fine in Win 8.

Is that legal? I don't know and I haven't even read the XP Mode license agreements. You'll have to find out and decide. Or, if you've got a legal copy of XP sitting around, just install it in the Hyper-V client available with Windows 8, or other software like Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Player, as mentioned in my first post to this thread.

I have multiple linux distributions, as well as Windows 8. I also have VMWare Player installed free for personal use. But, I like VirtualBox best. See my first post in this thread for links to them. They are all very similar allowing you to install other operating systems in Virtual Machines in a variety of "host" operating systems.

I use ebay on a regular basis. I just make sure the vendors have a good reputation before ordering checking feedback carefully, looking at where a vendor is located, how long they've been an ebay vendor, etc. But, to each their own.
