At close range it is ok It is at the longer distances where it falls on its face. It never stops hunting for focus regardless of what focus mode I select. In video mode at a distance I tested it for a minute straight looking at stationary objects that were about yards away and it simply continued to go in and out of focus chattering.
I hope I just got a lemon of a MC and not that this combo was just oversold. I sent an email to tech support and hope they can tell me something. If not, this will be going back and I will just stick to sony glass for this great little mirrorless A Really nice adapter for the price but as today 2 may this adapter don't work as good as the metabones on canon native lenses, bur hopefully sigma vill fix this in firmware.
No tripod mount. This adaptor works very well with the ART. Unfortunately it's as worse as metabones with my ART received this morning. I can't find a way to download new firmwares. I had high hopes for this adapter. I'm looking for a firmware update to resolve things, but if it doesn't get any better I might end up sending this back.
My biggest issue is that the thing doesn't even work well with the Sigma 18—35 f1. With the camera in AF-S, the lens frequently and randomly goes completely out of focus without any action on the user's part. Phase detect AF seems slower generally, especially in low light, and even more so in video mode where from my brief testing it looks to be unusable.
Eye-AF is enabled but doesn't seem to work nearly as reliably as other Sony lenses. Put a Sony lens on after using the MC and 18—35 combo and you'll realize a massive difference. This becomes crucial with lenses like Sigma's 18—35 f1. The inability to accept Canon EF-S lenses is another big one.
While it's not fair to criticize Sigma for lack of support on something they never claimed to support, lots of info from the web is trickling in on Canon rather than solely Sigma Canon mount lens compatibility. Creating a converter that matches lenses for current DSLRs to bodies for mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera systems is even more challenging.
Now the market demands a converter that goes beyond simply aligning the flange back distance to retaining full functionality. Increasing the compatibility of lenses with different camera systems makes these assets more valuable than ever.
In addition, users of Sony E-mount camera bodies will enjoy an immediate increase in the number of lenses available to them. Users of multiple mounts will enjoy more flexible use of their valuable lens assets.
When used with a camera body that is compatible with Fast Hybrid AF, AF-S mode delivers extremely fast and smooth autofocus performance. With other camera bodies, contrast detection AF offers very high-precision autofocusing. Green light:the lens is compatible. Blinking orange light: the lens is compatible but the MC requires an update to retrieve new lens data. The more detail you provide for your issue and question, the easier it will be for other Sigma MC 10 owners to properly answer your question.
